Re: 2011 Oct 29 & 30: long dualsport ride
Be careful riding at dusk.
The rut is about to start so the deer are doing a lot of moving especially dusk and dawn.

I don't think Arkansas has any deer so we should be fine. DOH!ajayhawkfan wrote:Be careful riding at dusk.

+1
I rode the talimina skyway, pig trail, 309, and a bunch of other roads last weekend and it was awesome. The leaves were not dropping too much but the color was remarkable.

Sorry we missed you guys, but had a great time!
Re: 2011 Oct 28 - 30 Arkansas Adventure!
What a fun weekend. Thank you Troy for leading and putting together a very diverse route. Thank you Micheal for making sure I didn't get lost.
I didn't get many pics of the many miles of twistys we did. They were exhilarating , challenging and beautiful if you dared take your eyes off the road. I came away a better rider , I think.
If forced to chose I would have to pick the backroads as my favorites. We rode miles and miles of roads canopied in colorful trees. Riding sweep I had the pleasure of watching the two riders in front of me as they passed through this tree canopy tunnel of colorful falling and swirilng leaves , a sight I couldn't get enough of.
The challenge of a couple infamous roads was accepted and conquered with no mishap.
A very enjoyable weekend of riding, points of intrest, food and commaradier.

Glap to see you guys went UP Pannell Rd. Thats the hard way according to some. I took my group UP that road too. The hard stuff was first thing after a low bridge water crossing. The guys behind me were not too thrilled

Actually, we went down Pannell. North to South. The washed out areas looked treacherous but were actually easy to ride. The rock ledge you have to go off of had me crawling over it with feet down simply because I'm very scared to actually hit my skid plate on the F800 after we put the hole in Michael's oil pan a few months ago. There was a relatively easy work-around on the side, though, if you wanted to avoid the ledge. The ledge would be easy on a 450 or anything with lots of clearance and/or better skid protection---I just don't trust the skid protection on the F8. Larry just hopped off it on his 690, rode back up and then back down again.JasonK94Z wrote:Glap to see you guys went UP Pannell Rd. Thats the hard way according to some. Going uphill on the bad part was a bear! We found the trail to the right to go around that ledge too. A guy on a Kawa 250 hopped right up and over it. I drug a few guys on klr's through there during SLAP.troy wrote:Actually, we went down Pannell. North to South. The washed out areas looked treacherous but were actually easy to ride. I second that! Great pics, Larry! In fact, I doubt my photos will add much more than what you've posted. I'll dig through to find some keepers, but your camera takes much better photos than mine...and you put some thought into your framing.ajayhawkfan wrote:Nice pictures Larry.
I like that last photo in your set where you photoshopped it to look like I laid the bike down. Funny!
