You want to learn to ride like that?

Stay tuned. The KC Police Foundation and the KCPD Motorcycle instructors are putting on a riding class on May 1 for only 28 students. The KCBMW Motorcycle Club is sponsoring the class and will have the first opportunity to sign up.

If the members of the BMW club don't fill all the slots it will be open to others.

The cost will be $50 and will include lunch. It will be held from 9-2 at the Police Academy's track.

I took it last year and it was fantastic and will do it again.

If you think you might have an interest please let me know. That way I'll make sure you are one of the first to hear about it if the slots are not filled with the club's members.

I took the 2010 class as well, and it was very good--well worth the time and money. If I still have an appropriate motorcycle at that time, I want in. So please put me on the notify list.

Same as Troy, except I know I will have a bike. So put me on the list, too. I guess I could join the BMW club ... :-?

I would be interested in that class, what is considered an appropriate motorcycle?
I would like to do it on my street bike which is a Concours 14 but wouldn't want to risk dropping it. I could use my DRZ400 but it wouldn't be as challenging.

You can ride any legal and licensed bike. Last year there were all types of bikes. No drill is mandatory and you don't have to do it at a set speed. There are cones and you can ride around without a problem.

If you want to improve your riding I would think the 14 would be the bike of choice. The skills you will learn will benefit you street riding much more than gravel.

I would really like to sign up for the class but just realized I will be out of town that weekend. Maybe next time, if there is one.

I would also like to find a multi day class like the full officer training course that provided the bike, which would get dropped many times from what I have heard from insiders.

The sign-up information is up now for members of the KCBMW Motorcycle Club.

Club members will get the first chance to fill the slots. However if you get the application off the yahoo group site I don't know if you are a paid member or not.
