Bored & Snowbound
Re: Bored & Snowbound
47 degrees this afternoon!! I'm heading out to Perry about 2:30. Any and all are welcome to come along. There should not be too much ice (denial springs eternal) beneath the leaves...so come on out if you can. Last chance before this incoming sleet/ice!
Motoracer13 -- bring anything. A quad would be safe in that stuff just in case you are worried about the ice.
Troy, can't you stumble and "break" a toe & go ride?
Curado -- call in well. "I'm well and cannot come in to work. Have to clean the puke off my bike." (More on the latter is SURE to come!)

Curado and I were out at Perry today riding. Slimy mud. Peel off 1/4" of muck and you were on ice. Just too cool. and he kept on my ass. Pretty impressive. I intend to go back for more and get my mud timing back.
Where were you guys? It was a great day prior to the "wintery mix" we are facing.

If my bike wasn't already red, it would be stained with the blood of my enemies, perhaps puke also. Fortunately today I had the day off, a rare occasion indeed. Too bad for you!Stu wrote: Curado -- call in well. "I'm well and cannot come in to work. Have to clean the puke off my bike." (More on the latter is SURE to come!)

Ah it was a great ride although taking my skid plate off to clean under it is damn inconvenient.
But who am I kidding? Me, clean?

Re: Bored & Snowbound
OK Stu I'm not always riding the Rednecker! I was actually loaded up with the yz 450 and headed to a local MX track. Since its 10 min from my house I go ready to ride. All I have to do when getting there is unload bike, Put on Helmet/googles, gloves, and my boots. So I get in truck and turn the key and hear a god awful silence. Nothing. Not even a click. So I run back into house down into garage and yank out my jump box. Not thinking I shut garage door. Jump box gets motor to turn over, but only twice. Back threough house down to garage and out with me comes my big battery charger/jumpstarter and for some reason I dont have any exstension cords under a 100' long. Get it all plugged in and it might have turned over 5 times. I thought I might have a bad connection so when I jumped out and was looking at cables I noticed the battery. Was cracked 3/4 of the way around. Normally wouldnt be big deal but this was after earlier in day when I got a $5000.00 estimate to do repair work on my wonderful 6.0 diesel ford. I poutted in basement playing mx vs atv reflex for the rest of the day.

I'm snowbound and was on an endless hold. I was to fly to Portland Maine for a meeting today. My flight was canceled. I'm going back to bed.

Get out of bed and head out to Perry. I'm going to be there for a while around 1:00. I've got to get back and clean the bike, service it and then do the same to the car before the bad news weather hits tomorrow night. We could play for a while and you could ignore your cell phone's desperate attempts to get you to a conference call....

Dirtbiking on a Monday? Are you kidding me? You couldn't PAY me to leave my desk. Man do I feel sorry for you guys. Why dirtbike when you can sit indoors and work like me! There's so many more fun things you could be doing.

"XR-Nut -- Is it true you are installing a used Cabella engine in your Honda to get more power?"

XR-Nut
Now KTM-Nut. I used to climb big piles of snow at the end of the street when I lived in Madison, WI. It was fun, especially after a 12" snow. I was about the only vehicle out there.
Riding on Monday. Curado, I know how much you sing the Company tunes and do their bidding while chained to your desk. You can rattle them pretending it is your clapped-out Honda engine firing up for a ride at Perry. Sorry about your confinement. I had a great time bombing around in the mud.

At the moment, I can't get the truck out of the driveway.
Re: Bored & Snowbound
Supposed to drive my wife, her sister, and my kid to Wichita yesterday. We got as far as Gardner before encountering ice on I35 and several cars in the ditch with highway patrol everywhere. So we gave up. This morning, we found our cat near death so spent the morning at the emergency vet. Wheee!
We saw a lot of vehicles stuck on the way to vet and back. Most were simply not able to push through deep snow at neighborhood and store entrances. My 2 wheel drive truck was not the best, but momentum is your friend sometimes.
Back home now and enjoying the white stuff best I can. Cat should be OK we think. Got a big pot of chilli on the stove. Merry Christmas, all.

Re: Bored & Snowbound
I was pushing 4WD vehicles that were stuck in front of my house. Surprising what the drivers did not know about wheel position when in deep snow. Had I not torn the front end off my 300 for maintenance before spring riding I would have been out there on it. You can get around really well on a dirt bike with non-studded tires in deep snow.
Troy, we did not make any of our Christmas visits this year either. At home like you. Good to know your pet is OK.

Thanx curado, video brings back memories of ice racing...Nothin' like a tire full of #9 sheet metal screws....!!!
Re: Bored & Snowbound
That's Curado, stirring up trouble where trouble is deserved. Jim Letellier is heading out tomorrow (New Year's Day) to ride in the snow and drifts with a regular knobby, not studded tires. He's 74. We are all wussies.
