Anyone have suggestions for a comfortable after market seat for a EXC? Looked a little bit at SDG and Sicass. I'm not sure if these seats are any more comfortable or just a race inspired aftermarket product.
Maybe I can get away with after market foam replacement?

Re: KTM seats
I picked up a ktm comfort seat off ADV flea market thinking it would fit my buddy's 97 620, but the pan is for a newer model enduro. I've been hanging onto it thinking about using the foam to redo my xrl seat someday. The seating area is about 8" wide and flat, but still narrow at the front for standing. I think it's from Enduro Engineering, they're fairly inexpensive.
Re: KTM seats
Your problem is going to be that KTM went to a single bolt seat in 2004 (?). Your 02 has a two bolt seat. Not sure who makes after-market complete seats for the old style. I have a Moose seat on my 02. It is ok ... better than stock (Brian's 03) ... but not as nice as the EE (?) seat Tracy has on his 04.
Daryl swears by his custom Renazco seat on his Husky and has had it for several years and it still appears to be in great shape.

Re: KTM seats
I love my Renazco seat! It is worth every penny of the $300.00 price tag. It has been said that the KTM seats feel like a 2x4 and the Husky seats are a 2x4 You have to send in your seat because he reuses you seat pan.

Another option is Corbin and I think they use their own seat pan so you will have two seats.

Here is a do it yourself option from Guts and a lot of Husky riders really like the tall seat option.

Good luck with your project.

Re: KTM seats
I have a Enduro Enginering (EE) Seat and like it a lot. Its not bad at all for a day ride. Its tall as heck though and if you are hight challanged with the KTM any way, the EE seat will make it much worse. Its been a factor that I have learned to live with for the comfort. Although Im sure that some of my falls on the KTM are contributed to the seat just being so tall. Once the bike hits a certain angle, I cant hold it up any more and feel that if the seat was lower I would not have this problem. That being said, I wouldnt really change the seat out unless it was for a Renzco. EE has the seats for your bike at $129 last I checked.

Re: KTM seats
It's hard to fit an EE seat to a pre '04 KTM exc. If you call to order an Enduro Engineering seat they will tell you there isn't a seat for the pre '04 exc I believe Tracy and I have a MXC seat on our EXC's. BUT in order for this to work you must also have an MXC tank because the seat is shaped different on the sides where the seat and tank meet. If you have an MXC tank (I do) and the original exc seat there will be a gap on the sides. It won't keep you from using that seat/tank combo but I don't think you can use the exc tank with the MXC seat. The MXC tank will be bigger but I wanted more capacity anyway.
Thanks again Tracy for selling me your extra EE tall/soft seat. It worked wonderfully. I like the extra height too.

Re: KTM seats
You are correct in that a MXC seat using an EXC tank will leave a cosmetic (but no loss of function) gap btw the seat and tank. The EXC tank/seat angles downward at a sharper angle than the MXC combo. I run my MXC seat with the stock EXC and MXC tanks.slimtrader wrote:It's hard to fit an EE seat to a pre '04 KTM exc. Re: KTM seats
SDG still makes a standard and tall seat for the 2002 EXC. Just over $100. SDG is the company that makes Moose seat.
Lots of conversations about the EXC vs. MXC options. I'll want to go to a larger tank eventually. Is it easier to go with the MXC components? Are the EXC and MXC tanks interchangeable on the EXC. Is this the tank variations I see listed as a "7" tank and a "10" tank?
Hate to put any money into a seat that won't be a good fit with the best option tank.

Re: KTM seats
Mac,
I went with the EE soft seat on my '07 525 while awaiting the Renazco seat's return. I can recommend both. The EE seat is an enduro seat without a lot of comfort for DS riding and the Renazco is good at both, being wider at the rear. I bought the Clarke 3.1 gallon tank so I could use any seat. It gives up .3 gallon compared to the more expensive KTM MXC tank. I really like this Clarke tank.
The seat you might want to check out is on Terry's bike at Letko. He found a guy in NKC to rebuild the stock seat and give it the dimensions of the Renazco seat. It is about $95 or so for the rework & re-covering. Jim L. tells me he can use softer foam as well. You might want to check this out as an option to the Renazco. It looks and feels as if it should have the same comfort as the Renazco.
