So my brother, KC, is coming up to KC this Fri eve on his Vstrom. We want to do some kind of 1/2 day or longer ride this Saturday, June 13th. I am looking for options, so if any of you have something planned or know of something, post it here please.
One squirrel-brained idea I have is to surprise the Nebraska Adv guys at their "2nd Saturday Breakfast". This "event" is nothing more than what appears to be 3 to 6 guys showing up for breakfast near Lincoln, NE. More details are here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=236677 You need to read the end of the thread to learn they plan to meet someplace new in Ceresco, NE. The reason this is a crazy idea is that we'd have to leave the KC metro around 4 AM to get there by 8 AM! We'd have to pound major highway to get there in time then enjoy a lazy, back-pavement route home. I just think it would be fun to show up and double their numbers. Shhhhh. Slamming into a deer at 5:30 AM while riding 70 MPH would really suck, though!
Another option--and always a good one--is to make a lunch run to Cooky's Cafe in Golden City, MO. One of the best places to eat in at least 500 miles I'm sure.
The Amish restaurant up in Jamesport, MO is wonderful, too. So that could be a ride option.
Another option I have enjoyed in the past is riding up to Trenton, MO to watch the trials guys compete. However, they do not have an event this weekend.
I'm open to pretty much anything that I can do in a day. Gravel or all pavement--either way is fine. Who wants to ride?
Saturday, June 13th ?
Re: Saturday, June 13th ?
I already have plan's to ride out around Alta Vista and Alma on Saturday on my Harley. I am sorta, pre-riding that area for a group ride coming up later in the month. I've been back and forth on highway 4 several times, just wanted to look at the road's around Alma for street bike riding before the group ride.

COOL! Thanks! Those trials bikes and the style of riding looks like so much fun! I may take you up on that and hopefully you could give me a tip or two to understand what you guys do.hrdrckclmr wrote:The trials guys event is the third sundayevery month (but Aug) I was a member of MATT a while back but quit riding trials BIG MISTAKE Me and a buddy are going back this month to ride the monthly meet all are welcome and if you would like to try out my bike just ask (I have the BRIGHT yellow chevy) Hope to see some of you all up there
A year ago I came relatively close to purchasing a home on 20 acres that had a creek and woods on it. I had hoped to buy a trials bike to play and learn...but now I'm doing the subdivison cul-de-sac thing. You sacrifice for family...it's worth it!
Btw, I still don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow--at this point I'm not even sure my brother is coming up with his vstrom. We'll see!

I'm jonesing for a ride myself, my buddy Larry and I rode up near White Cloud last saturday doing a shakedown run on his recent DR650 freshening. I found a webpage with gps coords for historical barns in Doniphan County so we went to maybe half of them.
I checked on yahoo maps and Ceresco is a couple hundred miles, lunch maybe but not brekkie. I may do some poking around Hiawatha, supposed to be some interesting homes. There's a restaraunt Paul, ADV Fugawee mentioned
up that way. It's not too far west of Rulo IIRC. Dean

Really trials bikes are great for riding in your cul-de-sac they are so quiet I ride mine (louder than it sould be) and my neighbors don't know I'm out there plus you can have a ball for 10 min or 2hours in the back yard with very little space (I live in a subdivision) I've been dressed to go to dinner waiting on the wife and rode for 10 min put it up and left and no one the wiser
hope some of you all can make it
btw bring your coolers as there are no facilities on site (portapotties only)
