Thinking of riding the River Road on 11/11. Is anyone interested?
Rough plan Meet at the ConocoPhillips Gas Station just East of Leavenworth over the bridge on 92 Hwy at noon. Head up to 45 Hwy to Weston Mo, possibly have lunch in Weston. Head on up 45 Hwy to Bean Lake, take Swamp Rd. to Shore Dr to River Rd. Make are way up to 59 Hwy head West to Atchison. Then follow the River Rd back to Leavenworth.
Has anyone checked out the River Rd on the Missouri side?
Weather is suppose to be in the 70's Let's Ride.

Re: 11/11 River Road Round Trip MO - KS
I've ridden the River Rd on the MO side from Atchison through Weston and back to Kansas City a couple of times. It's high-speed gravel with easy curves. It is enjoyable, but not at all like the West (KS) side.
If you look at some maps and the satellite imagery, you may think you can ride the levy, but you cannot legally do so. Tip for those that don't know yet -- purple paint means "NO TRESPASSING".
There are some very enjoyable country roads N and NE of Weston (East side of Hwy 45). It is hilly country with lots of curvy roads and beautiful views.

I think I'm the only one that didn't dump it today. i only credit that to the metzler karoos and the fact that Tom and Todd were attacking trails that were more suited for base jumping than motorcycles.
The end of the road. Man what a day!

Oh yeah, mud. I found it just beyond this bend.
I wasn't expecting this.
This was the result.
Yeah, that's a brake lever under there;
If you think the KLRs brakes suck when stock, you ought to try them when they are like this;

Pictures never lie...you guys had way too much fun today!! I was cooped up all day working on the ever growing honey-do list.
Where are those trails you guys were riding?? Ican tell from the picture of that long hill climb that it is VERY steep.

The trails are on the kansas side of river road, just a few miles south of atchison. I didn't get a picture of the hill Tom wiped out on because looking down it gave me vertigo.

A few more photos. A lost license plate, a few trails, a few minor spills, good food, and a found license plate stuck in the dirt. Priceless. Great ride.
