I rode to work yesterday on my KLR and gone blown all over God's Green Earth coming home. Just got a new back tire on it Tuesday night, so had to test it out. Didn't ride today though, supposed to be some nice cold rain blowing through by the end of the day.

Tim, do I need to come over and give you a personal tire changing seminar?! DRZ with a flat rear tire should not be any more than about a 30 minute hindrance tops! 8)

I keep 2 rear and 2 front tubes in the garage and usually carry one of each on rides.

I've not ridden since I bent my handlebars to heck in Nov. I MISS RIDING! My BikeBandit order with new handlebars and new sparkplug should arrive Sat or early next week.

As soon as my bike is ready and the forecast is dry and at least high of 40, I'll be out for a long day ride. I'll post up.

What KTM did you get?

40 miles per day on my F650GS-Dakar. (Snow, ice do cause the 4 wheeled contraption to get driven to work, although I did ride home in 4" of slushy snow last winter. Got some strange looks on that ride.)

KTM LC4 was out for a small ride last Saturday.

And like Troy, what KTM did you get?

Hey you say that until you find out what tire is on there now: Teraflex (140). I knew I did not have the patience to deal with it, even with my buddy and I's manual tire changer. I took it down to Cafe Racer and Dan, who I have seen do a 3 minute change (Race tire, granted) it took him and hour on the terrorflex. no kidding. I am gonna have to buy him lunch, he was cussin me for inflicting it on him.

it weight at least 15 pounds and supposed to handle <3 psi in dirt. well i ripped the stem out at 3psi. so i see no redeeming value other than a conversation peice. I'll run it until its gone or i have to take it off again. :D

and I picked up a used 300exc. need to post a pic later....

I rode to work at 5am this morning (fri). It was interesting to say the least. I had to stop every 200 yards to scrape the Ice off my viser because I couldnt see. Luckly I have dirt roads all the way and 3/4 of a mile of ditch then Im there. I looked so funny when I got there. I walked in and my whole front was solid Ice. My Black jacket was white up front and black on the back. I got quite the laughs when I walked in.

Tim, buddy, pal, you want me to store that for you to keep your garage from being too crowded? I'll even get her out and run the cobs out on the weekends for you. I'm cool like that.

So what you are saying is that you get to ride off-road every day just going to work?! Must be nice!

So are you riding in this weather because you WANT to or did your Toyota with 600,000,00 miles finally die?

I blew a main shaft bearing in the tranny on the way home from AR this fall.....the KTM ride.
Drove it home and around here for a while then decided to pull the tranny. I was going to just pop out the bad bearing and put it back in but decided to have the whole thing rebuilt since I had it out. $500 got me new seals, bearings, and new sincronisers,(SP). Put it back in and all was well till I put it in reverse. It just stayed there. Took whole truck back to shop. They pulled it out again and found a missing pin for Rev and 5th. They replaced the pin and put the tranny back in the truck. Cost me nothing.
Couple of weeks later I replaced the starter for the 1st time. She now has 215,000 miles and purrs like a kitten.
I keep telling myself to sell my Landcruiser and this truck and just go get a newer Tacoma with a V 6 but I just want to see how far she will go.

NOW!! if Toyota would just make motorcycles

BTW. I was at the Toyota dealer here a while back in Wichita. They had a kid come in with a 1988 Toyota 4runner who was a motor cross racer. He had 750,000 miles on the 4 runner. Original motor!! The dealer ship tried like hell to buy it off him. He wouldnt sell!!!
So the next time you look at a toyota and it has 150K on it and your thinking of buying it........dont think twice about it.

Oh yeah!! Toyotas will last a long time as long as you do the minimum maintenence. I work at an auto repair facility we constantly see camrys corrolas and 4runner with 200,000 + miles on them we usually through a set of plugs and wires in them and they're back on the rode racking up more miles. same with honda accords and civics.

thanks for the offer mate. i may take you up on it. I already got one farmed out.... I will needing to store an extra bike for a time after this weekend...

if anybody goes to the bike show this weekend check out the ride for kids bike and the charity ride July 22 (mark it down would love to see a DS contingent)

the bike was mine last year and a friend and I raced it to raise $ for the event. I sold the bike but kept the custom painted skins just for this years bike show.

Yeah my old 86 had 250K on it and several flops on teh side and a few rolls where I left it running trying to right it. Hard to kill those 22RE's.

Oh I rode Sunday....it was a bit chilly @ 50 degrees

I rode the KTM at Chadwick Sunday. Great trails and a good time. Tacky spots, no dust and even some ice patches. 300 has some nice grunt and flickable too. Now I just gotta learn how to ride it proper
