Wish we had one of these in the KC area

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

Wish we had one of these in the KC area

I wonder how long before enough people get hurt and the lawsuits force them to shutdown. Or a new housing development goes in 5 miles away and they complain about the noise and end up shutting it down. Argh. The place looks really nice. $25 for a day pass.

The airport has a bunch of undeveloped land. If TSA would "lighten up" (they just now allow lighters on planes ... and finger nail clippers ... "Come back here, I'll bight your kneecap off.") this would make primo ground for a riding area. Already noisy from planes. No permanent structures allowed for safety of crashing planes. Etc. And, you could be in the middle of a double-double-backflip-twist as a 747 flies 200 ft over your head. Awesome picture opportunities.

I heard the straw that broke the camel's back was when a girl broke her neck in an ATV accident at Tiffany Springs and because of the required Life Flight helicopter rescue, the airport traffic had to be shutdown for an hour or more. That was more than the public was willing to deal with.

So as part of our agreement to reopen the area, if you break your neck, no helicopters. You must be dragged out by an ATV with a rope around your ankle.

I don't think you'll need to do much convincing to get race stuff opened up near the airport. These guys have done all the hard work for you already. Oh, and check out the Kart track map, They're also gonna run mini-supermoto's up there.

Let's ask them to put in a say a 100 miles of trails for enduros and a MX track and it would be a true motorsports park.

Thanks for the link, Ian. I signed up to be kept informed about their informational meetings. I'd like to attend one. In the comments sections, I did mention the RideForum.NET community and our interest in woods trails or "enduro" style trails beyond the standard race tracks. It will be interesting to see how their plans progress. I hope it goes really well, that the political hurdles are few and the interest (money) is plenty.

Troy if you go to a meeting see if they will take bribes. Here's line that always works in the government "Who's your favorite President?" Then flash them a 20! :D

Been to their "meetings." I felt less pressure sales tactics for a time share in Okabojee, IA. Their meetings are less informational, and more be an investor....now....really. Lot's of talk about how it can be a good tax break (???) and how now is the time to buy because for the full-price membership you'll be able to turn around in less than a year and make a profit on it. But, I hope lots of people buy in, even if I'm not, cause I wanna run track days there.

Yikes! Thanks for the heads up, Ian. Yeah, I noticed I can buy in for just under $100,000.00. What a bargain!

Hi All,

My name is Rick McDowell and I've been working for 5 years to get Tiffany Springs as a legal riding area. I even joined the Missouri Offroad Highway Vehicle Alliance (http://www.mohva.org).

We have been working directly with Mike Herron, KC Parks and Rec Director for the TIffany Springs riding area and having regular meetings, but now it seems that KC Parks and Rec has stabbed us in the back because they promised us land to develop a riding area and low and behold a club member found out that KC Parks and Rec is giving the land to a private group to build a race track on for members willing to pay $85,000 a year to use it.

Here is the group and here is the property that was suppose to be ours.

I guess KC Parks and Rec is only interested in providing land to big MONEY makers and not us offroad riders. They don't even have the guts to tell us they did this.

Rick,

I'm all for having riding places close to home. But honestly, I've known about KCI motorsports since they got turned down to build a track in Louisburg in 2002. They weren't really all that secret about it. They even had an open city meeting about it earlier this year. I'm sure you would have been more than welcome to have you and your supporters there. Just saying, it doesn't really seem to me as if they "pulled the rug out from under you." And I'm not even a little affiliated with the company, just a local street/dirt/track rider.

Land usage in this city is a cutthroat industry and if you want to get some you have to be willing to have lower than usual morals and standards. Especially a high interest plot of land like the one in question. I'm sure having big dollar lawyers help, as well as knowing people in high places. However, we still have a public-run government, and your voice is just as vital to that government as theirs. It sounds like you were either talking to the wrong people, or weren't talking loud enough.
