Pottowatomie and Marshall county 7/15.

Post by MacWildcat »

I have a route mapped out to scout some country in Pottowatomie and Marshall county. The route starts in Manhattan (or Wamego) heads north to Frankfort, then southeast along the east side of Jeffery Power Center. I have been on about 3/4 of the route but picked some new low maintenance road from the KDOT maps. Approximately 150 miles. Anyone game? I would like to start around 8:00 am Sunday to beat the heat. I figure Frankfort will be a good halfway spot for a break. Give a shout out on the post and we'll pick a spot to meet.

I posted this ride to kcdualsport and Midwest-Dualsporters Yahoo Groups.

I'll be in Colorado riding the Rockies...so I'm gonna miss this ride. I'll hope to make the August Wabaunsee County ride.

Nice to hear from you Steve, looks like your KLX got a little boost. How's the 330 kit? If you want to, we can meet at the gas stations in Wamego at 8:00.

That would be perfect; see you there. My phone nos: home 232-9037; mobile 640-6181.

The KLX big bore kit is great, much better suited to my lard butt than before.

Had a great ride Saturday through Pottowatomie and Marshall counties. I think I have some good roads picked out for a organized ride next fall.

Steve from Topeka met me in Wamego at 8 am, we were hoping to beat some of the July heat. We made our way back to Manhattan and then north to Frankfort. Part of the route follows along the original Oregon Trail, lots of old little-used roads and old ruins. Had a good lunch in Frankfort, we fit right in with the Sunday school lunch crowd! After lunch we made our way back south along the west edge of the Jeffery powerplant complex, No mud on this ride, Steve kept commenting he was eating alot of dust, sometimes it looked like he was staying back close to 1/2 mile. We parted ways near Belvue (Oregon Trail Road), Steve headed back to Topeka and I explored a few more road on my way back to Manhattan. It was one of those days you didn't spend much time sitting still, the heat wasn't too bad as long as you kept moving

Anyone else interested in riding in the Manhattan area, give me a PM. Toying with the idea of heading up to Randolph to check out roads on north by northwest.
