Chadwick - Feb 20 & 21
Chadwick - Feb 20 & 21
Forecast temps are looking good for SAT/SUN, although there's rain chances throughout the weekend. Assuming we don't get washed out, James and I are planning on heading down early Saturday morning and camping Saturday night.
We may have room for up to 4, assuming my truck is out of the shop by the end of the week. I'll update this post as we get closer to the weekend.

I might be down for one of the days. I would probably just get up early and drive home late, but who knows the way the weather is looking I may have to drag out the hammock! I can't be for sure until I see how the week plays out tho.

James and I will be heading down early Saturday morning, hoping to be at the pavilion by 11. We decided against camping this time around, but still plan on riding both Saturday and Sunday.
We'll be in a white Honda CR-V pulling a Harbor Frieght trailer.

Looking forward to riding with you guys. I believe James does have your (Ryno) contact info, so we'll send you a text once we have an ETA.
Not sure which bike Ryno is bringing, but if it's the Husky, we'll outnumber the KTM 3:1. How often does that happen?

Carl and I are going to be leaving the Lees Summit area realistically around 6:30. I was planning on parking at the smaller area closer to Kay"s. I figured if we beat you guys there, I would just take Carl on 113 loop or something to get us warmed up. I will text James when we get there. And yes, I am bringing the Husqvarna! Woot woot

Re: Chadwick - Feb 20 & 21
How hard are you guys going to ride?
Am coming off a broken wrist last October, got a nice plate and 10 screws.. It's all healed up, but I've only been riding short rides around the house here. No idea what my endurance is like.. Am on a 14 wr450.
Would only be for today, but would you be up for another to tag along? Again, am not up for high speed super difficult ride, and have never been there, so don't know what it's like..

I wouldn't consider James and I "hard" riders, and we're not going down there looking for the gnarly stuff. But, we haven't been down there enough to know how to avoid all of the more difficult areas. We generally try to make sure there's an escape route before we get into something we can't get out of.

Are you up for another to tag along today? If my wrist starts acting up, I can just head back.. All am trying to say is, "I don't want to be that guy".. Lol
Maybe I can just follow Ryno and Carl down, am out in Odessa.

Re: Chadwick - Feb 20 & 21
Saturday Ryno and Scott kicked my, however I did come home in one piece, somehow. This kind of riding is really over my head but I have managed to feel good about myself when said and done, that is after the terror subsides. It seems I have the most trouble with the long, loose hill climbs. They are just overwhelming to me, and of course we came upon one in the first 15 minutes of the ride. I told the guys I couldn't do this and I was done. Get me back to the truck and I will drink beer and be their home support. They pushed me into continuing to ride and overall I am glad they did. Most of the other stuff I was able to keep up. Ryno and Scott were easy on me I think? I would hate to see what hard is.
On my last ride at Mulberry mountain Randy said Chadwick was harder than that. I didn't believe him as I couldn't imagine anything being harder. Well he was right.
James had a mechanical with his rear tire separating at the bead. He spent the day in Springfield getting it fixed.
James and Scott are riding today (Sunday) and I am home safe and sound!
My riding style stinks but again the TE250 performed amazingly!
Had a great time driving down with Ryno and we hit it off very well. I really liked the BBQ he took me to on the way home in Nevada, awesome! I still have another dinner or two from it in the fridge.

Chadwick and "easy" do not belong in same conversation. Chadwick eats dirt bikes for lunch.

So true! However, James and I did make it out without getting stuck on any trails due to either mechanical or rider failure.
Chadwick is proving to be a good litmus test for my overall riding ability. James' and my first trip down there with Randy and Kendall on our DRZ400's was a complete failure. If it weren't for Kendall riding our bikes up a few sections, our bikes would probably still be sitting somewhere along 126b.
With a few years experience, and much better hardware under our seats, we were able to manage a couple of the spots that on previous rides would have sent us packing. I'm plenty sore, but looking forward to heading back down as soon as my schedule allows. I was even so "bold" as to buy a season pass this time, so my cheapness dictates I have to go down there enough to at least break even.
Carl / Ryno - thanks again for coming down. Sorry you couldn't stay for Sunday.
