CSC Motorcycles?

Never heard of this company until a tweet I stumbled onto yesterday. Apparently selling these Chinese-made Zongshen bikes in the states.


They have an adventure bike, the RX3 Cyclone that sells for $3,500!

Specs indicate heavy and under-powered compared to the much more expensive options we are familiar with. But wow--a new 250 dualsport for under $2K?

I've read about those. I think they look great! But they will most likely have low quality pot metal parts, vibrate loose (but I guess a lot of new bikes do this), and the tubing and rubber parts will quickly rot. On the plus side they will probably get great mpg. For $3500 I would buy a used KLR.

Nearly always you will not get more than you pay for.
And sometimes you pay to much ....it is figuring out which is which.

I've been following these since before they launched the rx3 last year. I was skeptical, but I haven't heard a bad report yet. There are quite a few with pretty high milage. Some from before csc was the importer. I think there is a guy in Idaho with over 50K on it, with no reported problems, other than wear items. CSC has gotten very high comments on customer support. There is a new mini Ducati (Ducopi?) Sport bike to be in the line up soon. If someone was in the market for an inexpensive FI 6sp 250, that comes with hard luggage, skid plate, and engine guards, it may be worth checking out. I sure don't need one, but I was very curious if a Chinese made bike from a basically unknown importer could be viable in the US. I've read that Zongshen is considered one of the best Chinese manufacturers.

Most of the engines are pretty good. They're like the old air-cooled Honda, Yamaha, etc engines. I would have no problem putting a larger Chinese engine in my kids' Honda CRFs. The problem is most everything surrounding the engine (at least in my experience owning 2 china bikes). Crap welds, crap metal frames, steel rims, crap and suspension.
I paid $100 for our pitbike. Put on a new petcock and new set of plastics and the kids rode the heck out of it. Awesome running bike. But when I bought our CRF70 it was night and day difference. Smoother engine, sweet suspension, and comfortable seat. Pretty much the same difference when you compare a full size china bike to a jap bike.

I've got a TT250 on order. Boat is due in port today. Probably several more weeks until I get mine here in Kansas City.

Cautiously optimistic. Zongshen is highly rated (and ISO certified - which is no easy task) and everything I can find on CSC (the importer) is positive too. Obviously low price but they're trying to edge into the market. Bike is a bit heavy, and the suspension is only "fair" based on by the travel alone (6+ in.) But... inverted front forks, 300w stator and 2 factory accessory plugs, kick/elec start, stainless braided lines. There's lots of pros from my studies too, and the RX3 has been a big hit.

We'll see what happens!
