SUNDAY AFTERNOON JANUARY 25, WHERE DO YOU WANT TO RIDE?

Post by KC »

Weather looks beautiful this weekend for January. Going to ride trails Sunday afternoon at either School Creek, Randolph or Perry. Anyone feeling froggy?

I will be out at Wilson Lake riding my mountain bike! Come on out! It's a really cool place.

That is tempting...I have not ridden the trails at Wilson yet, but have wanted to for some time now. There is a seven mile MTB trail at Randolph State Park that is pretty good. My original plan before posting here was to ride the mountain bike trail in the morning then jump on the KTM at Randolph ORV in the afternoon. I may stick with that plan if I don't go to Perry.
Don't hesitate to post up here for a MTB ride, there are a number of "Multi-sporters" here. The worst that can happen is Troy could deny you your Free Lifetime RideForum.Net Membership.

I talked to Luc and he is up for my Randolph MTB/MC ride so at least the two of us will be riding there. We plan to meet at the ORV at 10AM to ride motorcycles first, then ride mountain bikes after lunch.

Sorry Sabetha Boys...It would have been nice to give you all a few lessons on how to ride fast in the woods...guess It will have to wait until next time!

Great that you guys have MTB trails open to ride. Except when it is below freezing, everything in Kansas City area has been closed for a month or so because of soft soil. With the warm weather, it seems that there has been only one or two cold weather opportunities to ride each week.

I never thought that I'd be hoping for below freezing temperatures!

You just have to think outside the box... That's why I headed a bit west.

We rode Switchgrass (Wilson Lake). It was an awesome day. They had rain the night before so the sand was prime!!!

2 Trails, 1 State Park, 1 Day

What a day! The temperature never broke into the forties all day but I still managed to get drenched in sweat on the motorcycle and the mountain bike. We rode the MCs aggressively for about 2.5 hours at the ORV without any major mishaps, then drove over to the State Park and had lunch at the MTB trail head. Not even a half mile into the trail the spring popped out of my left fork and bounced off of my head. I thought I was done for the day. Luc offered to drive all the way home to pick up a spare bike but after looking around for a few more minutes I found the top cap and got the forks screwed back together. The trail is supposed to be about 7 miles but it took us over an hour and a half to complete and seemed like it was uphill 80% of the time! My quad muscles were so sore today I couldn't take a full stride to save my life. Good times.
