Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

KCMO POLICE TRAINING

Post by ajayhawkfan »

The KC BMW Motorcycle Club is sponsoring a day of training by the KCMO Police motorcycle instructors. All bikes are welcome. The date for the training will be Sunday, 15 June, 2014 (Father's Day). We've got openings for 28 riders, led by 4 KCPD Motor Officer Instructors. Money raised benefits of the Kansas City Police Foundation. The cost is $50 per rider, which includes a fantastic BBQ lunch.

Here are some of the exercises that will likely be covered: The keyhole, 90º pullout, lane change, offset cone weave, box-8, the intersection (4-leaf clover), slow cone weave, U-turn, stopping in a curve, 30-MPH cone weave, diminishing clearance, 40-MPH evasive maneuver and brake & escape. Those last 4 will be strung together into one circuit. Expect to spend about 20 minutes on each exercise or circuit, and a break after about an hour. It's pretty intensive, so bring your A-game! As always, if you're not comfortable with any particular exercise, sit that one out - no shame in knowing your limits.

I have taken this course a number of times and it is very well done.

Please drop me a note with your email address if you would like an application.

I just wanted to refer folks to last year's thread if you want more color:
http://www.rideforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1855

It really is very good training. I've taken it twice, and I have been impressed both times.

I'd go again, but they told me last time that I have 100% mastered all the techniques and that they have nothing more for me. Right.

This event is on Fathers Day so give your favorite kid the application and tell them this is what you want. You will be back in time for a nice dinner and a tie from your less favorite child.

If you have children riding it is a fantastic course for them as well.
