Picky picky :) I would stay at the lodge. If this doesn't require a plated bike, my son would likely go as well.

No "official" routes have been created and likely won't for some time since the TARKC godfather just started a 10 day cruise. However, you can definitely ride right from the lodge and stay off-road on trails all day long. So bring your son, but it might mean you don't want to stay with the group plan for the day.

HOWEVER...I've ridden down there for years and NEVER have we been stopped by law. We've had a 12 year old kid on a 105 2-stroke riding down Hwy 215 right past a county sheriff and he just waved. Ahead of us were 2 guys riding 2-up on a quad and neither had helmets on. Technically, yes, you need to be plated to be legal on the highways, but nobody other than state troopers cares is what I've been told...and I've never seen a State Trooper in that area.

2 years ago we stayed at Mulberry and we drove across to ride a loop, we got lost so I came out of the loop and drove down the highway back to the cabin. I was on my plated bike, wife on 250 non plated 4 wheeler and daughter on a kids 110 cc 4 wheeler. I was leading the pack with daughter in between us.
Came around corner and met a state trooper, I thought this is going to be fun to explain. He slowed down but never came after us, but we had riding gear from head to toe on, which I think helped. :)

I'm in. A street riding friend may meet us there. So put me down for two spots if there are still enough spots.

Its a long way off but I might be up for it. What type of riding would most people be doing? If I went I would take a bed if one was still available. If not I am cool with camping.

Folks, it looks like the Lodge is FULL! That did not take long. Inevitably somebody on that list will back out, and I KNOW we'll have a few more that end up coming. The Lodge does have a ton of space that would allow air mattresses, but last I checked, they will charge us $40/head regardless of whether you have a bed or not. Now that the Lodge beds are full, if you want IN, understand you may have to pay $55 or so per night and be on an air mattress. It's still great lodging, but just don't want to hear any bitchin'

Mulberry Mountain Lodge has other cabins you can book, but they are going fast...and they won't save you any money. Camping will save you money, though, and it's a great campground.

Stimmer, it's Randy's baby, but I know it is primarily an off-road ride for small weapons. Of course folks can ride whatever the heck they want.

Bob Morgan and I will be in on this ride. However, as neither of us feel like we can keep up with you guys in the woods we plan on riding some easy DS tracks to check out the surrounding area. If anyone else would like to join in you're more than welcome................

I hope to be down there for some DS stuff as well. Need to make a rsvp on a rv site.

Anything scenic there for nonbikers? I need to entertain some others too.

[Edit] I got a rv spot for May 1-4.

A lot of good scenery in the area but one of my favorite is Lost Valley State park. Its about a 45 minute drive from Mullberry Mt.

He probably figured you all were aliens or something - he has probably never seen protective equipment like a helmet, boots, etc..

On that same topic, we were riding int he back of a truck that should have been abandoned YEARS ago. It had been flipped, totaled, had no glass (of any kind) and (of course) had no working lights of any kind. It was filled up front way beyond capacity and had about 5 more city boys int he truck bed. We were driving down a highway at highway speeds pulling a bumper trailer with (now we know) a cow hanging, and presumably, dragging off the back...

Red and blue lights...great...THIS is how I go to jail, really God?!?!?

"Sir, do you know you have a calf hanging out of your trailer?" 30 secs later we were on our way...no seatbelts, lights, glass, paperwork...

It is Arkansas folks...there is a reason there are so many jokes...

Hey folks,

My name is Mike & I know Troy!!!

I just got the OK from the boss to try this ride. If there is somewhere for me to crash (sofa or floor) that would be great. I will probably be arriving with Sean & group. I can also camp if no space is available. I have a KTM 690 and will probably be sticking to 2-track and dirt roads for what it's worth.

Let me know what my status is!

Cheers,

Mike - glad to hear you can make it down. I am pretty confident there will be folks that will look for the more Fall Colors style dual sport as opposed to all hardcore trail. Troy and I have some pretty extensive GP collections now of Arkansas and can probably string together some really nice rides.

All that being said - roads vanish, get filled in by rocks/trees/buses - you never know. So plan for an adventure!

Mike....everybody knows the legendary Troy!

Glad you can make it. Sounds like you have several sleeping options. You are welcome to sleep in the lodge as I'm sure we will have room as it is 5000 square feet.

My budy Scott thought this ride might be geared toward dual sport. I have a CR 250 and RMZ 450. Would these work?
