Good ride, everyone- we had a blast! It was good to get out and ride on a beautiful day in a beautiful area. As usual, Larry took us down the best road the area had to offer. Alissa got to try out her new bike and she gives it two enthusiastic thumbs up, so everything about the ride was a success!

Thanks to everyone for joining in, and we'll have to do it again one of these days.

Sweet, I learned something new tonight! I started the GPS app on my android phone before we took off from Alma. I had no cell phone reception at the time. It tracked our whole day. On googlearth I can move the track and see exactly where we were and at what time. Pretty dang impressive to me. Then I just figured out how to save the image. Another cool techy thing to mess with. :)

Had a good time...the best part of living close to Wabaunsee county is the fact that I rode Box Turtle 4 times this summer!

Below is the link to my reaaally rough edited video.

Way cool. Nice vids.

Those where some of the roads I was thinking about doing out there, just slower and with less confidence. And that rocky downhill is a definite turn around :) at minute 3+ on Savage's vid.

Box Turtle is really something! I was going down Dawson's Trail and the next thing I know I am sliding down the third rock downhill face thinking if this is bad, wtf is Box Turtle like, I need to get out of here now. Then at the end it says Box Turtle and I was like ok - it was the toughest stuff I have done yet. I was going to go back and do it uphill but it was 5:30pm and by myself and figured it was time to get the heck out of there. Never had my front wheel get moved so hard by a rock either. Or slid on one foot for so long.

Christy is pretty nice warm up for Dawson/Box, just watch there is at least one really deep hole in the right going down that would eat a tire whole, half hidden by the overhanging sunflowers. Nerhing is just slick gravel, a bit tricky in its own right but just easy after Box Turtle. Rockton was pretty nice and some areas are two track after the last house. Skyline is like a highway compared to the rest. Actually road most of it sitting down, one handed, eating ice cream after Box Turtle. :)

I got really beat by sunflowers, just last week I was thinking hand guards were really kind of a joke on this bike. There just to keep my hands hot in the summer. Next year I will be there if you do it again. What fun!

Down hill

It was wetter on the ride not sure I could have made it up hill with the big bike, last year on the dry it was actually easier than expected.

I did not do that part! Probably for the best. That must have been where something went behind some structure to the left on the way down as the road split two ways to the right where I saw the sign Box Turtle? I guess I did the upper part (Dawson) and then missed that part behind the building/fenced area which probably headed straight down into those woods bypassing the long way round on Nerhing (I am looking at a map now). Looking at that rock drop I am fine with missing that one. Sliding down parts of dawson was enough.

What tires do you have on that? My scorpions are about spent.

How are the other roads off Skyline? Jaketown? Hess? Maby? Snokomo? Soloshield (heck it runs most of a creek from what I see might be nice)?

Dawsons is the rough part which runs N to S. Everyone calls it Box turtle because everyone calls it box turtle. Going by your description you did the rough stuff going from S to N, which runs downhill.
