Meeting location will be Maple Hill exit 341 on Interstate I-70 at the 24/7 travel plaza parking lot 8:30. Terry and David there is a chance for rain, unfortunately it won't add up to a memorable October ride through Wabaunsee county a few years ago.

Just in case we get unexpected bad weather, I will try to post a go/no go by 6:30 am. If nothing is posted consider it a go....a little rain will keep us cooled off.

Hey Mac, I'll be with tagging along with Harvey if we don't get rained out. My DRZ Hasn't had a good Wabaunsee County "bike wash" since 2008 when you had your KLX and I was afraid we were going to swamp our air boxes out exploring that creek! See 'ya Sunday.........

I do not have the desire or tires to ride tomorrow. I remember the mud around there all too well. Larry, Thanks for putting together this ride.

It looks like we can give it a try. Here in Manhattan our total rain from yesterday through this morning has only been 1/4 inch. I would expect Wab. got a little more. Might be sticky in a few places, but mostly good moisture and very little dust. So far today it look like the concentrated rain is down around Wichita. We could catch a little rain but I would expect needing swim trunks!

See you at 8:30.

We had a good ride today, total of five of us. I must be a sick bastaad, but the mud can sure make a ride more fun. This would have been a ride requiring average skill. Add the mud to the equation, and the giggle factor bumped up a notch. We got started about 9 am, and we back a Puffy's for lunch just after 1 pm.
I will try to get my video edited later this week, and post it here.

Sorry I missed it, but I hadn't even unloaded my bike from my trip yet. It had been raining in Colorado too and the 10 mile gravel road out to the highway made a HUGE mess out of the bike and trailer. I was kind of pooped after 10 days off the grid too

Thanks Larry, haven't been on a DS ride in that area for a long time. Good times. I was a little bummed out we didn't come across any forlorn wenches out walking alone in the middle of nowhere. Oh we'll, ya pay your money and take your chances....

Thanks Larry for another most excellent ride! One of the highlights was when the Huskies squared up with the pissed off German Shepherds, and of course box turtle road. I was having KLR moment when the DRZ was wandering all over the road in the mud wanting to flop over, but loved catching air off the rock shelves jutting out the roads along with the power slides through the corners! I personally think this is the best cross country riding I have did in this state is on your rides! Thanks again and looking forward to doing it again in the future.........

Does anyone have any good Flint Hills tracks they can share? I rarely get time to make these rides but I have always wanted to ride the area.
Thanks,

I got the video pieced together. This really does not justice to the muddy conditions.

That was a great ride! Thanks for letting me tag along. That was the first time I really had the Husky 610 out. I'm really starting to like this bike! I would like to do that again with you guys. love the stories everyone was telling. Good Times!

Looks like you guys had fun! It's amazing how green and thick everything is in your video. Despite the recent lack of rain it looks like our fairly wet spring is still having it's effect on the trees and weeds!

Jim- post up when you decide to go ride out there. The fact that I missed out on this ride combined with watching Larry's youtube video makes me want to get in a ride in the area. We can run the 990's together! Maybe Luc can join us on his too and we'll have a whole Big Orange crew!

Sounds good. Eddie sent me some tracks last night. I have to work this weekend but I would be up for a 990 ride there sometime soon. If a time works good for you before I post up let me know and I will try and make your time work.

My next several weeks are pretty booked up, but I'll hopefully be able to get some riding in by late summer/early fall with any kind of luck. If I have a good weekend open up between now and then that will work, I'll let you know.
