WTF?! $640 for a 60CSX.
http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-GPSMAP-60C ... ords=60CSX
When did the 60CSX get this expensive? It better come with 4 $100 bills in the battery compartment.
Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
Re: Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
Well, since I am an Amazon Prime member and don't live in KS, I can get it for a straight 599.99 with free shipping if that makes you feel any better.
But, I remember looking at these at some point, and I don't remember them being that expensive. I could be wrong, however, www.camelcamelcamel.com says I am partially correct.
But, if you want to save 40.00, let me know.

Re: Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
Hmmm...so I've been not willing to think about any brand other than Garmin because I figure it's what motorcycle riders know, I know their software, I want to be compatible, they are a local company here in KC, etc. BUT....at the same time I keep bitching about their hardware, software, maps, prices. Sheesh!
So why not a DeLorme?! Check THIS out! The DeLorme PN-60 SPOT Communicator bundle
Backpacker 2011 Editor's Choice
I've already moved to generic GPX-based data management. I'm looking into open source map products--and I'm sure the DeLorme maps are fine, too.
You can get just the PN-60 for about $350.

Re: Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
Speaking of GPS's, can anyone rattle off some models of decent ones that are cheap? <$250. I'd kind of like to find one that I could up/download maps with.
Ahhh, pre-mix!!

Re: Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
I think once the 60csx was discontinued the price started going up. Just a testament to how great this unit is. A buddy bought a Garmin Oregon, looks like an adequate alternative.

Yeah, the 60's are crazy expensive. The 62s start around 250 on amazon.
Cabella's Has most if not all of the current Garmin hand held production on display, if any one is looking to put their hands on them, before they buy.

Re: Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
On the surface, the 62 seems to be a good, logical 60CSX replacement. But I hear about issues with it's tracking accuracy that worry me. A primary function of my 60CS is to produce an accurate breadcrumb when I ride off-road trails.

If you are out south the Garmins headquarters has probably every model in there customer area there. They seemed to have a lot more than Cabella's or Bass Pro.
