I don't bleed orange, I just want a high quality, high performance, street-legal dirtbike. The most difficult part of that is street-legal. The list of high-performance dirtbikes that are street-legal from the factory is a small list. Sure, some folks have had luck getting other bikes plated, but I don't want to invest thousands of dollars only to discover the State won't give me a tag.
Honda does not make a high-performance, street-legal dirtbike. I don't know their lineup all that well, but I think they have a street-legal 230 now, which I would not consider high-performance, but it would do me just fine I suppose. After that, it's their XR650L, which is 20+ year technology and too big and heavy for serious trail riding.
Most of the KTM options haven't been US street-legal for very long either. Luckily, many of the KTM dirtbikes are now US street-legal. My KTM 450 EXC is a 2007--the first year KTM made it US street-legal. That's specifically why I looked for a 2007 model.
I'd eagerly consider buying a Honda (or whatever) street-legal 250 to 450 4 stroke dirtbike. Right now KTM and Husqvarna are about the only choices out there for me. Considering they are about the same price, the KTM is a value winner over the Husky in my opinion. The Yamaha WR250R and the Suzuki DRZ400S are about the only other options, and both of those are far behind the KTM performance.
I'd really like to ride a newer WR250R...but I smell a KTM 350 EXC in my future. Kendall, I'll give you $3,500 cash today. How can you pass up a deal like this?!
I'm still motocross guy at heart from the days in the 80's when I was thinner and yes broke my back on double jump, I still watch motocross religiously, but my xxxl body won't let me live it, so dualsport let's me feel like a kid, but I will admit I'm working on a motocross track for my daughters new ride and the baby jumps will be good for me. If the rain wasn't coming the track loader would be here Friday! I'm lucky to have my CRF 450x Street legal and it works great as dualsport for gravel roads, but not my choice for the pavement. I ride a bike that can handle the off road very good and it can take great off road punishment, I'm just not using it to its full capacity. KTM makes a great woods bike (best maybe) and taking the motorcross to a new company level. But the 450x can't be beat for the quality and bang for the buck!
Wish list would have a BMW setting next to the Honda moto and KTM woods bike:)

I might be able to set some kind of time record if I ever decide to sell my bike. I'm getting all these offers and it's not even for sale!
Based on your offers (*cough, cough* LOWBALL), you guys might be able to split it. Each of you can split custody weekly and split maintenance costs down the middle.
