I am planning on coming providing a few things fall into place. I will be tenting it most likely. I am hoping to have a smaller dirt bike by then but no one on craigslist seems to want to call me back.

Tenting is cool...also note that Kendall has a spare bed in his trailer...I think.Foster wrote:I am planning on coming providing a few things fall into place. I will be tenting it most likely. I am hoping to have a smaller dirt bike by then but no one on craigslist seems to want to call me back.

I'm still in. I just hope it doesn't rain! Being wet and/or cold on the back of a motorcycle is starting to get a little old!

I stumbled onto this...the Northeastern Oklahoma Trials Team (NEOTT) had a Trials competition at Disney this past weekend. Would have been really fun to watch!

Yes, Kim and I are coming. I already talked to Hogan and "booked" a spot. I haven't talked to Stu since he went to Utah.

I did put my new sprockets and chain on the KLR. I'm running a 14/45 (-1 front, +2 rear) now and it was nice at oakland.

Minor details updated on first post.
We want to know who expects to reach the campground first. It will be your duty to secure enough space for the group. Right now, that looks like 5 RV spaces. (minimum 4).
Weather is looking pretty decent for our weekend! The chance of rain expected for Fri keeps decreasing, and Sat & Sun look very nice. If it does rain significantly Thur or Fri, it would make some of the trails muddy, so I'm hoping it does not rain much.
FosterBUM, I'm bringing an extra bike for my brother-in-law to ride, but he may only make it for Sun. When your KLR gets heavy, you can try out my KTM 450 on the trails. Once I test ride my 300 and feel confident she's trail worthy, folks can ride her, too, but I suspect she's not for the faint of heart!

As of right now, I'm planning on heading down Thursday after work, so I can reserve the spaces when I get there. Hopefully, he doesn't expect $$ for the reservations since I can't really float 5 RV spaces for a couple of nights each!troy wrote:Minor details updated on first post.

Good news on the weather. Just a thought though- if it's going to be muddy at the use area and we all bring street legal bikes, we might be able to put together a decent consolation dual sport ride if we're up for it.
As long as Troy is loaning out bikes, I might leave my garage queen KTM 350 at home and scratch... I mean ride his bikes.

Thanks, Kendall! I am confident that you can just tell Hogan the group wants 5 RV spaces together and that guys will pay when they arrive. Of course, we don't need all the spaces Thur night--so make that clear so he won't ask for Thur night money for all spaces.kendall_smith wrote:As of right now, I'm planning on heading down Thursday after work, so I can reserve the spaces when I get there. And you are welcome to try out my old beater 300, but I don't think you'll be able to resist your new 350!

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK
Thursday's rain chance has been holding pretty steady at 60%, so it appears that they will get at least SOME rain. For those who have been there before, how will that affect the riding? Are there enough non-dirt (MUD) trails to put together a decent ride while the dirt areas dry out?troy wrote:Minor [url=http://www.rideforum.net/viewtopic.php? ... 074#p11074]

The good news is that Saturday and Sunday are looking good still. I just hope the trails are able to dry out despite the cool nighttime temps.

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK
There are probably hundreds of acres of SOLID rock to play on. Some folks don't think this sounds fun, but at least for me, it was a blast to play on the solid rock. Lots of fun climbs and drops--all with 100% traction. It beats you up a bit, and you get tired quickly.
There are lots of hill climb kind of stuff with enough rocks in them to probably be fine even after a little rain.
However, probably the most fun I had there was ripping it up along the "half pipe". This is a long stretch in the woods that is basically a mostly dry creek bed with small hill climbs on either side. You can whip around making figure 8 mini tracks, small jumps, etc. Just a great place to truly play on your motorcycle and develop your skills. This area would be a muddy mess in rain. I've only been once, so not sure how fast it dries or how much it is really affected by a little rain.
WORST CASE, it's 2.5 hours to Chadwick and just under 2 hours to a riding area at Devil's Den (S and a bit W of Fayetteville). This area is new to me--I just found out about it. Apparently it's an old riding area that has been resurrected by the USFS. Phase 1 & 2 are open and Phase 3 is still being developed I'm told. These are marked trails with a trail map brochure and all that. Looks like a lot of rocky forest kind of stuff with lots of it wide enough for rock crawlers.

And a tiny footnote: I have a wedding to attend in Edmond, OK Sat. I'll probably be gone the entire day. They started a new trail system there. (redoing the old Lee Creek area) Never finished it. For some reason or another. I suspect that the State Parks were afraid they ohvers might use the park to camp in. And since we are the devil, we didnt fit in with the Devil's Den State Park. No pun intended. When I created the trail map brochure a couple years back, they refused to give me any blessing for mentioning their name anywhere in it. But they have been the number one source for distribution of it for some reason! Only places that have ever sent for more brochures are the Travel Centers, run by the State Parks Department.
Off my soap box. From my understanding, there are open and legally usable trails in this area, for some reason they are not on a map! Which doesnt surprise me either since the MVUM here is willy nilly at best.

Sounds good. I hate to sound like a broken record, but I really DON'T want to get wet this weekend!! I think we should be able to figure out a way to deal with any uncooperative weather, at least if the forecast stays how it is now.
I guess worst case scenario will involve a ROAD TRIP!! We'll just get a convoy going from NE Oklahoma to one of the backup riding areas!
