Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Keep in mind Troy runs this site out of his own pocket free of charge. I just got in last night from two weeks in Colorado, we got rained on at some point every day. Our mutual friend Redburn was supposed to go again this year and was sorely missed, but didn't think his leg was healed well enough from our last ride.Rusty Jug wrote:I deteleted my photo bucket, picasso and now downloading smugmug
( I liked the unlimited video)
So now I'm waiting on talk tap app to down load and awsomiser app
But first I need to take ride on the bike!
But late tonight I will have pics or Troy gets nasty email! Lol!
Any ride that ends with a Jug sounds like a good un.

How many are going to this hootinany, sense I've been unable to put any time on anything I own this year I'm trying to work to time off for this. sounds fun
Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Depends on how many show but Im planning a little poker run with the winnings being gift cert from the Rusty Jug and maybe I get Randy of El do cycle to donate something.!
I have done 3 different maps , yes I'm a little compulsive on things being just right! My wife says only things that I care about!

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Just added some new gravel roads to the run on Saturday and I will have free breakfast set up for us at 8:30 to 9:00am plus the poker card winners will get gift certs to the jug! I know you KC guys have a 1:15 drive to El do if your on the south part of KC north part 1:50 minute drive.
We will be on the back roads, with nothing harder than a gravel road kept up by the county.

Here is an extra also besides going to El Do cycle afterwards to check out the tiger 800 and 1200 plus if the bikes are in we can set you up with a test ride if needed. Also the American Iron car show is going on down town and with about 135 hot rods !

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Hey, RustyJug!
If any details have changed, update your first post in this thread with latest info---to reduce confusion about when/where/what.
I calculate 2 hours to get to your place from the SE corner of the KC metro. If I stay off Hwy 71, it might take closer to 3 hours according to the Google Map wizard. I'd really rather not buzz down 71 at 70+ MPH.
At the risk of embarrassing myself, I'll admit that I don't actually know what a Poker run is. I, of course, understand what poker, the card game, is. I don't know how that translates into a motorcycle ride, but I hear about "poker runs" all the time.
To make breakfast at the Rusty Jug by 8:30 or shortly thereafter, I'd want to leave the metro before 6 AM. I'd take mostly minor highways.
I'm still on the fence a bit....but anyone want to meet me in the Martin City Target parking lot ready to roll by 6AM this Sat?

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
This might help
We will meet at the Rusty Jug for a free breakfast at 8:30 to 9:30 ( meet greet thing) leave by 9:45 AM and be back around 1:00 to 1:30 PM.
(Short version of poker run)
We will do 6 stops along the way each rider will get to draw a card from the deck of cards and they can discard 1 for the best 5 hand. The person with the best hand at the end of the ride gets the grand prize ( gift cert) and the person with the lowest hand gets a gift.
We will mainly be in a group, in a real poker run you would stop at certain spots on your traveling time and there would be person holding a deck of cards you pull one and they write it down or fill your card out. We are going to stop at places of interest and draw card.
Pushing the time back should help, I have about 5 riders that are planing but I know things come up, going the 71 way you are 1:25 mins from Rusty Jug the back way just depends how you come but I think 2.5 hours would be max, would to have you, I'm planning to come up to the meeting next week. Lord willing.

Had to go to google map every little bit to see of the road still existed!

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Glad you guys had a good ride. The photos look like you have some cool things to see in your area. Is that bridge only for walking now?
Did I see katbeanz in there? Hi, Dean!

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Katbeanz was our wingman in the back!
We had a little off-road getting up to Jesse James hiding cave, but a great view!
They closed the traffic to keep the historical bridge intact.
I had another bridge but the wrong turn on a upside down map kept me from crossing it!

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Hi Troy! Had a good time and it was such a beautiful day! Parts of the loop we rode went through a tunnel of trees reminiscent of fly gap. That bridge is at Caplinger Mills, and I think the cliff over Montegaw river. (sp?) A pretty substantial tree had fallen across the road, but a team effort made short work of it.troy wrote:Glad you guys had a good ride. Todd had 3 variations of breakfast pizza and soft drinks on the house while we looked at the maps. I think he'll be getting a larger fuel tank and maybe a mapping gps. I should have the track from yesterday's half, and could use track draw to make the other one but I won't post it without Todd's permission. We all chowed down post ride, had the BLT with brisket and some craft root beer. It was so good I got 4 bottles to go.
It was good to see my friend Marty back in the saddle and chomping at the bit to get back down to Arkansas. I dropped my last two ADV stickers in the mail this morning, one's for Todd's bike and the other's for the front door of the Rusty Jug.
Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Troy and Dean if the rib cook off gets canceled next Saturday morning Sept. 15 which it has 90% chance since there is a minimum of 15 teams and there is 6 now ! I'll know Wed. Morning.
So I'm thinking around 9:30 to hit the second half and we will put out another invitation for those who want to kick it up again!
Super thanks for the tickets!!
Yes, I have already been browsing on gas tank and carriers.
The gps electronic world has been on my radar for several months and I'm so dumb about it! I want a system that I can track on my computer then save it and then down load it to my system on my bike and then here it in my helmet the turn by turn directions ! Not asking much for $200 LOL!
By all means put our trip out there on the web! I'm just sad the road was closed on the early strech, that cut out about 4 miles of fun gravel roads!
I wish I could go to a afternoon seminar on how to use your electronics from home to bike! Lol
Heck I'm still struggling on getting my sena head set up to speed on my voice command!

Ok if anybody is looking for some fun riding this saturday Oct. 15 we are going to run the second half of the rusty jug ride. We will gather at 10:00 AM and leave by 10:30, will stop at Stockton, for lunch at a neat little hole in the wall joint for some food, should be about a 100 mile track. Hope to see you there!

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
Rusty Jug-
I am normally up for a ride, but I am waiting on a big brown truck to bring parts to fix my bike so this Sat is out for me. I am located down by Arma, KS so not that far away from Eldorado Springs. So October 15th or Sept 15th is when you are wanting to finish the ride? There is some cool scenery to be looked at around your neck of the woods and would love to see it.

Re: Rusty Jug Ride Sept 8,
I assume you mean September--not October. Do you mean Sat, Sep 15?Rusty Jug wrote:Ok if anybody is looking for some fun riding this saturday Oct. 15...
TIP: Create a brand new Ride thread for this new ride. Otherwise it can get lost this far down in a previous ride thread.
