Sprockets didnt come in yet for the XRR so its on to the Adventure for this ride. Is it still wet up there or will this sunshine dry it out a bit. The low fender on the 640 is not helpfull at all in sticky mud. By the way Flash, this is the big bike in my garage. Does that count??

Troy, If a guy figures out to load the whole route in marengo, how do you save it and make a link to it. Flashstrommer doesn't have a gps, so if he can see the whole thing he can trace it in highlighter on his topo maps.
I don't know if I'll ride or not, new kilimanjaro air on the way but I don't know if it will be here by saturday. Thanks, Dean

Actually one of the guys I'm riding with has a GPS so we ought to be set. Thanks Dean.

If it gets loaded to Morengo that'd be a plus though........ya know I like my maps.

Chris' Garmin route has a lot of detail and is too complicated and long for Marengo to load. Normally, you simply open the Garmin file in Mapsource, then Save As a GPX file, then load that in Marengo.

Dean, I hope you get your bike ready to ride. Four of us are leaving the Northland around 9AM and taking our own backroads route up to meet the group for lunch in Atchison. You could join us if you need a later start Sat morning. I recommend the Lawrence start, though, as they plan to take you guys on some fun roads.

Here is a link to a .GPX version of the track in the .gdb file (Clicky)

If you right click it and save it, you can view it in Google Earth.

Ok, boys and girls, I am in for this one. Tracy is heading to KC Friday and we are heading to Lawrence at the butt crack of dawn on Saturday to meet y'all.

I have a mostly gravel route from Bonner Springs KS to Lawrence that I have used multiple times to meet the BK gang. Tracy and I will be riding it Sat morning. Here it is in both GDB and GPX format:

Kware wrote:Well, with 45K miles, wouldn't know the wheel bearings would be shot. I found this out tonight while changing the rear tire. So I have started the search for new ones. Hopefully I can get them in by Saturday.
Boys and girls, check those wheel bearings.

I went out this morn and gave my wheels a push and pull at the top, and whoa, the rear wheel had a definite thunk thunk. Not good. One hour later (I had the bearings pre ordered) and the wheel is good as new.

Now to order another set to have on hand.

BTW, I got nowhere near 45k miles out of mine! Apparently Kevin doesn't ride through enough deep water! :D

Question of the day: Who will be bringing raingear for this adventure? Looks like between 30-50% chance of rain in the morning and maybe a little thunderboomer in the late afternoon.

Yeah, the rain forecast has shifted from ending tonight/early Sat morning to now starting late tonight and raining well into Sat.

It will take a lot more than rain to stop me from doing this ride. Anybody who does not show up is a pathetic sissy-girl. 8)

Yeah, but all your doing is riding up to Atchison, then riding home. I think if you don't ride the whole route from Lawrence your a sissy-girl.

Ok, I'm waiting to get banned now, but someone had to say it.

Dude has a point. I'm so busted. I'll wear a dress on the ride.

If it is raining, the roads north of Atchison will be almost impassable due to mud. (Several of us learned this last year.) Those roads--especially the Doniphan Co roads north of Troy, KS are pure dirt--not gravel.
