OLa... Me Amigo's, I am Clinton, I live in Liberty. I have a 88 Hawk and an 06 DRZ SM, I met A few of you kids on tuesday and finally got signed up so I just wanted to say hello

Hello and welcome, Clinton! We are quickly becoming "The preferred dualsport forum for Liberty".

I've never actually seen a DRZ SM in person but thought they sure looked sexy on the Suzuki website. You like it?

I saw a grey DRZ-SM strapped up on the back of a flatbed truck at the Lowe's in Liberty like a year and a half ago. That wasn't you was it?

Could we maybe rename the forum to RideLibertyForum.net?

Clinton I think I know you... did we talk bikes last year on the phone? Im the 'ride for kids' Tim.

anyway yes I think Liberty is the majority rule here so from now on rides have to begin in Liberty haha. maybe starbucks? I go to Latte Land on the Plaza to shoot the breeze with the sportbike crowd, maybe we can do the same up here for the DS crowd.

Speaking of which its supposed to piss down rain all weekend. Anybody up for a wet ride Saturday afternoon? Nobody ever accused us of being sane huh. wusses maybe but never sane.

The funny part about the "Liberty Group" is we all live within a 5 block area!

Clinton, better be shopping for some dirt tires for that DRZ!

I can have fun on a good rain ride if the temps are up, but Saturday we have plans to view the "Dead Sea Scrolls" at Union Station in the afternoon and morning is filled with Theocratic activities.

I would pass on the Latte Land but the Liberty Starbucks sounds like something we could get started!

I have, on occasion, parked my dirty dirt bike in with the sport bikes and my buddies HD. Interesting looks it got.

That area NE of 152 & 35 has a lot of appeal for my wife & I. Texas Roadhouse---consistently great food, but always very crowded. Red Robin--the best burgers and best burger variety (I highly recommend the Salmon burger on whole wheat and the Pot Roast burger!) And they've got the Starbucks there, too.

Of course the downside is driving or riding through the gauntlet there at 152 & 35. It takes me 10 minutes from my house to get to Liberty, then another 10 to drive 4 blocks and across the bridge! That is a bad choke point and people are moving into the area at a high rate.

By the way, my offices are at the Briarcliff Village which is just NW of where Hwy 169 and Hwy 9 meet just north of downtown KC and the river. There is a nice Latte Land there. It would actually make a nice place to meet if we ever wanted to get together to talk about stuff or demonstrate route building, GPS, mapping, geocaching techniques, etc. They have free wifi and a small conference room with a conference table and chairs that is free to use. Nice views of downtown, too.

It's great to see the new people on the forum. The dualsport community is one that has brought me several friends. It has helped make KC "home" for me after moving here from Wichita 5 years ago.

Btw, there is a "surprise" banner image that incorporates "Liberty" in the title....watch for it to randomely appear!

+1 on Texas Roadhouse. Briarcliff location works too, I just hate telling fellow riders "Let's meet at Latte Land" sounds like a date! Maybe we could call it the Briarcliff coffee shop or something!

What the heck is wi-fi and geocaching? Maybe I don't really want to know, I am lucky to figure out the credit card gas pumps!

I don't mind the amount of traffic in Liberty as much as the dang RED LIGHT runners. It gets pretty crazy during rush hour. I am in the habit of waiting at least 5 seconds at a green light before I take my foot off the brake.

Isn't there a place between Liberty and Briarcliff that would be nice also to meet at? I'm game to meet up somewhere as long as I am free from all the sports the kids are in. Soccer and basketball are on weekends and baseball is during the week.

Another thing you will have to look forward to in a few years Troy.

BTW wi-fi is wireless internet. Troy will have to be the one to tell you what geo-caching is. Sounds fun though, at least you get to get off the bike and walk around. Helps the case of sore a$$ on longer rides.

Geocaching is a high-tec "treasure" hunt using a GPSr. There are caches (treasure) hidden all over the world. You download the coordinates of the caches from http://www.geocaching.com/ load them into your GPSr and then find them. The caches will take you from the urban jungle to the wide open plains and the Ozark Mountains and every place else.

FYI, there are 1072 caches within 100 miles of KCMO, KS has 2305 and MO has 2363 active caches. They are in every county in KS and all but 2 or 3 in MO.

I was washing off Monday's dirt at the Car wash in Smithville yesterday and I met a Clay County Park Ranger. His name is Phil and he has a KLR. I gave him the website address. He lives in Belton.

I hope we don't have to start meeting in Belton.............

Hey, there might be some good roads to explore down that way. I hope he makes it to the forum. Park Rangers usually know the backroads pretty well.

If his last name is Hoover I might know his sister. Troy, bike wise, all systems GO. I put maybe 50 miles on, ran by to say Hi to Mike and got in on the tail end of remounting the front axle of a JD 4760 MFWD.
All the backroads I ran were snow and ice free, I rolled the throttle on in 3rd and got a most gratifying wheelie followed up with a nice rear wheel traction hunt.
I got a late start today and ran out of time to bolt up my RAM mount. If it's not too nasty that's on tomorrow's agenda.
I guess I'm getting older, how many guys you ride with use a kidney belt to hold a heat pack?

yea, love the SM and have started working on the "SM" slide in and around corners which means very shortly you'll probably be reading a wreck report, hope not but hey, I am in discussions for the possible trade of my Hawk GT for a KTM 400, dual sport, I'd rather sell the hawk but the main thing is I don't want to spend any money. I'll ride anywhere, even Belton, which is a nice ride actually if you take 291 south,

you CW'ing again this year? I plan to be at HPT in April for Supa Dave (and see JD debut his teaching skills. wonder if he will teach us how to grass surf LOL) and later for CCS. We are gonna do Team Challenge again this year too. what bout you?
