Geocaching-Riding

Post by ajayhawkfan »

I have been geocaching for a number of years and have enjoyed driving to some of the most remote places in both MO and KS (and throughout the US). I now have a bike and am planning on using it as much as possible to geocache. Is there anyone on this forum combining geocaching and riding? Is there anyone wanting more information?

You found the right place! Troy and KC have done a lot of geocaching. I plan to start so there should be a lot of this on some of our Kansas City area rides at the least.

Here are a couple I would like to go after this spring. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... 064fa14bdf
And

I have been in this area many times. They are in the heart of the Flint Hills, miles from the nearest home or maintained road and even further from blacktop.

Would you be interested in going?

What name does Troy and KC use in geocaching? Mine is the same.

There have been others as well. This is something that I've really enjoyed. Like you, I want to do a big Flint Hills geocache ride---possibly a 2 day weekend trip camping somewhere out there.

Since geocaches are almost always hidden either someplace very scenic or someplace with some historical significance, they make for some great places to ride to that you probably would never have known about otherwise.

Another good Flinthills geocache is the Blodgett cache. The history of this spot is interesting and the road in is a good KS dualsport-worthy road.
