BOOTS!!

Post by The Harm »

I've been trying to research dual sport boots, What does eveyone wear?? I have a pair of Gaerne Cyphers that I've worn on one ride. I didn't like them uncomfortable due to the fact that I have to wear orthotic insoles, bad knees and flat flat feet! I mostly ride backroads, I don't do any mx riding and very few trails. What are everyones thoughts???

Expensive, but probably some of the best "dualsport" boots--I wear the Oxtar Infinity. Very comfortable and a lot of protection. I have beat the CRAP out of mine for almost 3 years. They aren't looking so good anymore, but nothing is broken and I have no plans to replace them anytime soon.

Rusty used to sell them at http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com--that's where I got them. I think I had to pay about $270. I don't find them on his site anymore.

I injured my right ankle pretty bad at an OHV area last year. I decided to buy full MX boots to offer better protection. I used them on one ride and decided I could not stand to ride in those clunky boots. I went all out on those, too--Gaerne SG10. Sold them on AdvRider.

Those look like they'd be great do you know if an local shops carry them? I would like to try them on before purchasing due to my orthodic insoles.

I have been looking at the SiDi boots, the Discovery seems to be very popular model. I know Safiri has a pair and loves them.

Seems to be pretty close to the boot I have, which is about 5 years old. I really like them. Leather, not plastic, so they give a bit. For gravel road riding they may be a bit overkill. The friend that sold me my F650 threw in the boots. He has regretted that decision. I didn't give them back.

The really serious MX boots have a lot of plastic fused to the leather. This eliminates the ability of the leather to flex and increases the size of the boot [perhaps Troy's "clunkiness"?].

For my daily 40 mile RT commute I wear Joe Rocket Sonic boots that I got at MC Closeouts. I wouldn't want to wear those off-road, but for pavement they have been fine. Gravel ... you decide .. but to me they don't provide enough calf support. I don't want my leg above the ankle to be that free when sliding a gravel corner with my foot down.

Motorcyclecloseouts.com currently doesn't carry the Oxtar Infinities because they've change names but they said they will begin to carry them under their new name in apporx 1 month, I believe the new is TCK.

The odd part to me is that the reviews for the boot were all from ATV magazines. I will still consider a pair when mine wear out.

Aerostich Combat Touring boots for about 5 years. Touring, dualsport, etc. More flex than MX boots but much more comfy for all day wear, walking. Also a little shorter. Around $250.00 in their catalog.
