Just sitting, thinking about getting out and riding soon, hopefully??? My wife rounded up a little extra funds for me to use for my Christmas gifts. Finally going to have all the pieces to put my GPS to use- mounts, city nav., 4 GB card, hard wire kit, getting the 525's stator rewound and a new regulator. Been waiting about two months for all this stuff. Can't wait to get out and learn how to use them and head south for a bit of exploration.... All, I think I need now is some LED turn signals and HID lighting and it will be done, I think?

So far all I've gotten for myself is some new grips. I may get some grip heaters and I want some handguards, and thinking about some ebay saddlebag racks.
Some guys I rode with at the Arkansas Fall Colors tour are doing their annual New Year's ride at Brock Creek in Arkansas.

Brock creek has some of the best SINGLE TRACK trails I've seen. They are truly single track. Very steep up and down. Great fun.

I was thinking about fat bars and risers for the XRR but now Im looking at Top clamps and steering damper. It never ends.

Okay, I might get banned for this statement, but I'm MAD as hell at a certain LARGE furniture/electronic store that is located near the race track. They advertise "We beat any price any day guaranteed and will cheerfully refund 110% of the difference" well this is a not true. I found the same item for $100.00 less at the Post Exchange at Fort Leavenworth and they won't honor their guarantee. I also pointed out that I would not have to pay sales tax at the PX as well and this would have saved me $65.00 too.

So I said bite me and returned the item. I have purchased items from them in the past and have been a satisfied customer. So my advise is buyer beware and thanks for listening!

Great fun day or night, should be heading down there next month. That's where we do most of our single track riding during the winter months. Almost went down last weekend, but their weather didn't look much better than ours .

Isn't it amazing how men can come up with a toy list a mile long and our wifes haven't a clue what they want....

The kids are getting me the 5 bolt subframe upgrade kit and rear master cylinder guard for the kLR ! A cheap $30 present.

The wife has a box under the tree (I hope it's bigger foot pegs.... ) !

She did bring up getting herself a machine.... (x-mas I ask.). She said nope, I want a new bed frame. To much wild monkey $3x i guess.....

For all my friends ... choice between a Husky 450 or a KTM 450 ... oh wait, wrong holiday. I was thinking April 1!

I just want some decent weather so that I can get out my mountain bike and/or motorcycle. Since Thanksgiving options have been slim.

Happy Holidays to all DS riders out there. I've got new handguards ordered for my Super Sherpa. Anyone else out there riding Super Sherpas? I got mine (used) last summer and I'm really enjoying it! I'm planning to go to the Hillbilly DS ride in AR in March. Looks really neat after seeing article an ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE/Dual Sport News.

I'm up playing Santa right now. Both of my kids still believe and the wife and I are having a blast with it.

My baby girl, Rachel, had her best Christmas ever! Of course she's only 7 months old, so it's her first.

I did NOT find a 2008 TE450 under the tree, so I guess I'll have to keep counting my pennies.

Wife & I & baby drove to Wichita on Saturday. What an idiot I felt like! I did not expect that storm. It was the worst winter driving I've experienced in my young 36 years. Normally the drive takes me 3 hours. It took almost 7 hours on Saturday. Thank God we had our Jeep Grand Cherokee with the strong all wheel drive--made a huge difference. We passed a lot of cars spun off the road and a few wrecks including one requiring an ambulance. It was a zoo at the turnpike gas station rest area. Snow was probably 7 inches or so and anybody without decent ground clearance was stuck trying to snow plow their way around the pumps. A tractor trailer was stuck or broken down in the on-ramp back to the Turnpike--completely blocking the lane. Nobody could exit the rest area heading South. I was able to hop the curb and drive through the ditch. I had my tire-chains and hard-winter clothing in the back, so I was not too worried about getting stuck.

Just South of Topeka, we were stuck in line behind 2 snow plows leaving only half the right lane and shoulder open--except the 2 trucks were throwing their snow into that area---making it probably 18" deep or so. I was going to go stir crazy at 22mph behind those trucks, and oddly enough, it's actually easier to drive in the untouched snow than in the area cleared by the trucks because it gets slick where they plow. A couple guys in jacked-up 4x4 trucks hit that right shoulder at about 40 MPH and zoomed around the plows. As soon as they passed me, I hopped into their track and nailed it. Only scary part was actually passing the plows because you couldn't see anything and the Jeep was close to high-centering in the deep snow. Once around, though, it was beautiful! Wide-open, no-traffic, 55 mph or so. It was like driving off-road in a really smooth field. Those 2 4x4 trucks were out of sight within 1/2 mile! They were flying!

The drive was stressful, but honestly, it would not have been too bad if there had not been so much traffic. Growing up on the farm and having plenty of trucks to play with, I am an experienced snow driver and have a hard time not playing in it! The Jeep did more than a couple donuts over the weekend with wife and baby giggling in the back seat! Does this make me a bad parent?!

Doh! I'm sitting in my office at work now, so I suppose I'd better get to it.
