Brake Lever Extension

Post by GLBarton »

I've got this problem! My right foot angles outward and I have difficulty putting pressure on the brake lever. I saw a bolt on extension once on a GS-BMW. Does anyone outthere know of a source for these? It only extended the toe plate out maybe a inch but sure would make life easier for me. Thanks

I'm not really sure. I just looked at the brake pedal on my DR350, and it appears to be steel and the toe part is spring-loaded. It is connected to the brake pedal lever by a pin. So it would be possible to remove the toe part (the part that sticks out that you catch with your foot) and manufacture a longer piece or weld an extension onto the existing one.

I searching online for such a part, I find larger and longer brake pedals for your big cruiser bikes, but not for our dirt-oriented machines.

I have a very expensive pair of Gaerne SG10 (black, size 10) motocross boots that I purchased after nearly breaking my ankle. I thought the boots would give me a much higher level of protection. They probably do, but I found I can barely ride my little DR with those boots. It is too difficult to work the shifter and the brake pedal--similar to your issue. (I will be posting the boots for sale in the classifieds.)
