Eufy Security Cameras

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

Eufy Security Cameras

Post by troy »

My family had some recent events that have motivated me to install security cameras. I was loathing the project with visions of running wires, trying to get power to the cameras, or crappy WiFi range/quality issues, etc.

I asked my coworkers for recommendations, and turned out they had a lot to say and recent experience. I settled on ordering this kit from Eufy that includes their "Home Base 2" and a couple of their 2K Pro wireless cameras.

Ordered, arrived 2 days later, installation complete a day after that only because I had to wait about 8 hours for the initial 1 year battery charge to complete. Could not have been easier to setup--very intuitive. 2K video quality is amazing and the night video is surprisingly good. Super easy to mount wherever you want. The app is excellent. (I'm using the Android app.) NO MONTHLY FEES.

My experience is limited so far, but the AI to detect "humans" in the video and find faces in the video seems to work very well. When an event is recognized, the notification hits my phone fast....like I didn't finish crossing the main room of my house before I received the notice prompted by me entering the room.

If you are looking for something like this, I'm giving it 2 thumbs up so far. My coworker has had the 1080p cams for a year and is very happy with the system.

Hope your setup helps with the issue you were having. Nothing worse than worrying about your family when you cannot be there. Nothing. I put this system here in at lot a few years back. It recorded a truck being stolen at 4am on a sunday back in '17. Helpful I knew what happened, but not so much in nabbing the perps.

I have the same system and have had it for almost a year. I have no complaints thus far and really like that you don't have to pay a subscription fee to store the videos. Battery life on the one facing out from my garage was 6 months but it gets the most activity since it records us coming and going.

My neighbor had the "issue" which prompted me to get the cameras. He installed the same Eufy system but the "issue" remained. He installed motion detector Eufy light system and the "issue" went away. I have low voltage exterior lights and decided to not install motion detector lights since I have not had any issues.

Thanks for the report, Hank!

I just ordered one of the Eufy outdoor cameras that includes a small flood light, and will install in a particular area I want to not only record activity but discourage activity. I figure the light coming on with the motion will help deter jackholes. I remain super-impressed with the feature to only record events when a human is in the frame vs all motion.

Hey Troy,
Long time no see.
We have had the Eufy system for quite a while now. It works well and battery charge lasts a long long time.
Pay attention to zoning each camera. Cameras can monitor up to three separate zones, vice the complete view.
