Ordering Honda OEM flange bolts that weren't standard on your bike

Post by safiri »

If you've worked on Japanese and European bikes you quickly realize they don't use the same standardization of bolt ~head~ sizing. (What you put the wrench on.)
Euro wrench sizes tend to be 8 mm, 10, 12, 13, ... whereas Japanese is 8, 10, 12, 14, ...

As I now have a Honda, I needed some 8mm diameter flange bolts for an aftermarket brushgaurd, but didn't want the Euro 10 or 13mm head, but rather the Japanese 12mm head. (Keeping the need for different tools to a minimum.)

Partzilla to the rescue. A search for "Honda 8x25" returns the OEM bolt, as well as a list of the bikes it's used on. I can then use that info wherever I order parts.

Note the Honda PN "95701" is a flange bolt, 08 is bolt diameter in mm, 025 is length of threaded portion in mm.
