I hope you all like the new site design and features. If not, just reply here and I'll refund 100% of your membership fee.

The biggest news is this new design (theme) is "mobile responsive". This means the site looks great and works great on any device! I know many of you will appreciate it how nice the forum works on your mobile phones and tablets now.

One of the benefits of this theme is how it handles images--they should always just "work" and fit well in the posts. No more horizontal scrolling.

I have made it easier to post photos directly to the forum! To upload a photo into your post, instead of using the "img" button in the editor, use the "Upload Image" tab below the post editor. If instead your photo is already hosted online somewhere and you have a URL for it, continue to use the normal "img" button to embed your hosted photos.

Those of you who subscribe to forums and topics will notice the emails are now cleaner and clearer. Speaking of email, I have also resolved the issue where many of you were not receiving the email notifications.

Self-registration is back on for now, hopefully making it easier for new folks to join. If spammers take over, though, I'll once again remove the self-registration feature. (And no, CAPTCHAs don't block all the spammers.)

Oh, and let's not forget I also moved the system to a new, faster server with latest software versions.

COOL TIP! Have you ever wanted an easier way to simply find your own posts? Under "Search" in the top menu, click "Your posts". Boom!

So we have a cool new tool to add images to your post! ....and the images are not stored on my web server, taking up my space, and costing me money. :)

I added the images in this post using this new feature. In the screenshot below, you see the "POST A REPLY" form. Notice just below the large text box area are some tabs. One of those is "Upload an Image". You can usually ignore the 3 fields you see on that tab. Just click the "Select Image" button, and once you find an image, click the "Upload Image now" button that will appear. Once uploaded, it automatically inserts a tag in your post that will show your image.

The images are actually stored on the free Imgur service. They are publicly viewable, but so is anything you post on RideForum.NET. 8)

Yup. A few folks did. There was a post that I quickly deleted today. I deleted the account, too. I also made a change that makes it so a brand new user is not allowed to send PMs and their first 1 or 2 posts go into a queue to be approved. Hopefully that is enough to squash the issue.

If I end up with 10 spammer issues per day, I'll be forced to simply remove the auto registration and ask people to email me if they want an account like I've done the past few years.

Looks good Troy.

I'm working on a couple of tracks southeast of Sedalia that I wanted Creekside to review as he has quite a bit of riding experience in that area. I was wanting to PM the tracks but don't see an attachment option in the PM area.

Thanks,
Ed

I disabled attachments in PM's because I don't want to store large files on my web server--I pay for space. I figure this isn't a problem because if a person is willing to accept a file from you for sharing, they should be willing to give you their email address.

So my solution for you is to use email for sharing files with individuals. To share with the community in a public topic, of course you can attach a file.

I hope this makes sense for you, Ed!

Thanks!

Makes sense to me, I was just verifying that I wasn't missing something obvious in the PM section
