The 450 looks immaculate!! Nice job. With all that torque and knobbie tires, it can be a little intimidating on the pavement, but when you get her in the dirt where she belongs it will feel at home. Thanks, it's just so tall for me and thinking of tight single track disturbs me. And I bet it's been 10 years since I have ridden real off road and that was on 190lb trials bikes.
I don't know what I was thinking, but as stated earlier, working on them is a big part of my enjoyment too!

Maybe look into getting a different throttle tube cam? Then it isn't as touchy or intimidating when you twist it. I would think that would tame it down enough for you.

My KTM 280 came with this. Then for the front all you need to do is raise your forks up 1/4" or so in the triples.

I am embarrassed to say, after offering it to Troy for what I had in it I let it go.
Time to regroup.
Sold the DR650 too.
Sold the road bike (bicycle) and much of riding gear and bicycle specific tools.
Mountain bike is going for sale shortly.
Miata price is dropping.
Looking at different living quarters.

So the bike you just recently bought from Troy and fixed up you sold back to Troy after just a few rides?

You should of gave it more time. You would of eventually gotten used to it.

No I offered it to him because I felt guilty for buying it then changing my mind.
It looks like I bought it to resell but I really had visions of getting back in to the dualsport scene but now I don't know if I will be doing it.

That sucks about not riding anymore. You did a good job. That bike cleaned up nice.

The deal Carl made me (that I did not take) was pretty sweet. If I could figure out how to do that every time my bike needs work but without the ownership change and thus registration fees, property tax, and hassle, I'd just "sell" my bike to Carl all the time!

The job he did cleaning up my old 450 was impressive. Carl is also a really good rider and an easy-going and fun riding partner. Carl, you sure seemed to smile a lot on that DR, so I hope you don't give it up completely unless you replace it with something equally enjoyable and thrilling.

Going through some stuff right now.
There are few things I enjoy more than to ride gravel, dirt and street.

Hi Carl. I went down the DR650, DRZ400, KTM and Husqvarna path. I did really enjoy the power of the Kraut bikes, but the power could be a handful from time to time. I tries the Husky and KTM for dual-sporting, but they are just not comfortable for very long on gravel...definitely skittish on pavement. It will be a long time before I part with my KLX400(DRZ400), great all around bike. I bought the DR650 for longer cruises with no expected single track.

BTW - I am still interested in the DG exhaust for the DR65o. Sent you a PM.
