I ended up there this weekend and though I'd post of a few photos from the ride from one of the better roads. I found a little mud, but nothing to clog up my fender! I'll say though if you end up there, watch out as there are no stop signs at the gravel/dirt road intersections. Folks don't look or stop.
I've passed this monument at Far West several times over the years and decided to have a look this afternoon. One of the plaques says in 1838 there were about 150 houses and another 15 or 20 business, including two hotels, in Far West. You sure can't tell it now.
