A little thanks

I'd like to interrupt your normal sort of programming and take a minute, if I may, in offering a bit of thanks to those that lent me a much needed hand in my time of need.

I have a hazy sort of time-lapsed memory of the afternoon, and while I would love to thank everyone by name that rose up and came to my aid - I just can't. The fear of omission and exclusion is just too great. And you all deserve better than that. But, please, keep in mind that I cannot thank you all enough for your help.

I am once again reminded of the power of community as people whom I had only met that morning, stopped and offered any aid/assistance that they could. Whether it was a shoulder to hang on, an ear to my pain, or just words of encouragement, your actions, big or small, spoke volumes of your character and of the little group that Troy (who really wants to be called TJ) has brought together.

I could ramble on and on, reliving the moments after the fall that ended with me, home, relaxing, but, that is a long story, and would take far too long to read. So I will end this the best way that I can think of: Thank You!

I think about you often ,always when I ride by the scene of the fall, and wonder how you are doing .........if that helps any.

Four weeks out, giving or taking a day, and I am pretty much back to normal. Still a little sore in the mornings, but, it usually works itself out throughout the day. I sneezed yesterday and didn't feel like I was going to die, so, I'm going to call that a bit of a win. From taking about 2 pain pills per day, even as far back as 10 days ago, I sometimes take a .5 a pill in the evening and a couple of Aleve. No more sharp pains from daily life, just stiff and sore muscles.

Sleeping is still a bit of a struggle as I just can't quite get comfortable laying prone on a bed, so, I spend the bulk of my time sleeping in a recliner that Troy's brother loaned to me. To say that I am looking forward to sleeping in a bed is an understatement. I've never been able to sleep lying on my back, I sleep on my side, my left side, which just so happens to be where the broken ribs are. I can't remember the last real good night of sleep I got, on average these days, I get about 5 hours a night, but, it's never contiguous, it's always an hour here, wake up for an hour, two hours, wake up, etc.

I tried sleeping on the couch last night, and I probably made it about an hour or two before it started to get uncomfortable and forced me to move back to the leathery comforts of ReclinerCity.

Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully in a couple of weeks, I'll have this all behind me and start looking forward to Spring Riding.
