Cool to see you & Kim, Rick! (In photos anyway.) Miss the 2 of you.

All, FYI, the best way to share photos on Rideforum.NET or about any forum is to upload your photos to any photo sharing site then "embed" here using the image link. That way they show directly in the post rather than links. Bonus for me is they won't take up my rented disk space. 8)

That looks light and nimble. Looking at the pipe it must be a 4 stroke. What's the 411? She looks awesome!

OK Savage, remember I'm 59 years old. I had to Google "What's the 411" to know what you meant. It's a 250 two stroke Freeride. Brand new to the states but have been in production around three years. Only 24 horsepower...tuned for torque. Claimed weight of 204#Image

Crazy. Looks like a trials bike with a seat. I never have looked into the Freerides. I'm curious how the power delivery is compared to the KTM 200 or 300. The pipe is MUCH different so the power must be a lot different as well. Sweet ride!

I just did a little reading on it; it is a smash-up of a trials and trails bike. I didn't even know they were making a 2 stroke Freeride.

I am uber-jealous, Rick! The FreeRide videos (YouTube) make me warm & tingly! I hope we get to ride together this spring and I hope you let me ride the FreeRide!

This past weekend I took our son to the local trails after basketball practice. Until now I would have him ride the easier, smoother trails. But this time we rode back into "Sector 5" as he calls it. It was an awesome ride and experience for both of us! I was really surprised how well he did.
He had a pretty graceful crash midway through the video. Check it out.

Larkinsburg at 36. Note the erosion (loess stuff?) where the sand just blows away.

Image

Larkinsburg going north of 36 gets great! Awesome road up north of Wathena (St joe into KS). Don't go up here after a big rain, that last .5" was enough a few days back to make this on Keystone...

Image

Third pick up was a charm and the ride into the gutter was tough. Its amazing how dry and hard the rut in the road is, where the far off camber part of the road is like quick sand. I flipped the bike over down hill to get front wheel out of the deep rut, and after that bad idea had to lift it in the slick snot while down hill sliding, but with my bike behind me in a squat pick up I got it up fast, rode it to the quagmire of the gutter and got it back in the ruts.

Only did about 60 miles up there, mostly southern and eastern areas of Wathena, not anything west of where Larkinburg ends. After 2 pickups its time for pavement for me anyways. And the carwash.

Nice pics Creekside. That looks like a fun place to ride if its not too wet.

I had to take out my new ride this weekend to try her out. Test it to see what I like about it, what I don't, and to give her a good run and hope the engine or tranny doesn't blow.
I gotta say (thus far) this is an amazing machine! The suspension eats up the rocks and roots. The top end is very fast. My RMZ has more bottom end torque and is snappier, but the XCFW smokes it on the topend.
It was an awesome day of riding at SC. I was surprised how nice and trimmed up the trails were as well.

Ahhhh another KTooM!! Congratulations!! Savage, you need to venture east my friend. Head to Chadwick or Arkansas with us. I know it's a bit of a haul for you, but trust me, well worth it.

Here's my video I put together from testing out the new bike. You'll see the newly opened trails from the previous weekends trimming action.
