Samsung HMX W300 Rugged Camcorder

Post by Andy »

Just an FYI, if any of you are looking for one of these after Troy's fantastic video, it looks like a bunch just came out refurbished. There all over ebay for $50-$65, and Newegg has them for $39 after a $10 rebate.

Cool! Thanks for posting, Andy.

This appears to be a slightly different model than mine--perhaps a newer model, but the specs appear to be identical. I paid $39 + $5 shipping via Woot. I like Newegg--that looks to be a good deal.

I recently purchased a JVC Addixxion (GC-XA1 or 2) as a alternative to the overpriced HD Hero Pros. Has all the features without buying all the add-on crap associated a HD Hero. The JVC has a built-in screen, and the camera itself is waterproof w/o using an additional enclosure.
I am getting ready to work with videos after our recent trip to Arkansas.

BTW - Thanks Troy for your big bike routes from last year. We included some really stellar sections! One particular OMG water crossing I don't intend to repeat - east branch of the Bayou river.

Well, there goes any plans to sell my GoPro! If they're selling for $99 brand new, I can't justify selling it any lower than that, so I guess I'll just keep it.

I'm looking forward to getting this little handy cam for shooting video in the future. I used my GoPro quite a bit initially, but then realized that it was causing me to just end up with way too much video footage that would need to be edited down to be useable. I don't have the patience or know-how to edit video, so I've found myself just not using it. Maybe someday when I have the time/equipment to learn to edit video, I'll try it out again.
