Photo Bucket has dumped their old format, and Forced everyone to use their new one.
On the old site I could "choose" what size I wanted to display my photos, and everything I down loaded was that size.
All of my pics previously uploaded to the old site are still that size. On the new site, the display photo size that you link to web boards is almost twice the size of what I was able to choose in the past. The new size is (1024x862 ) According to the "help" section on the new site the only way to link "smaller" pics is to go in and manually "edit" the size of the photo with the "resize" feature every time After you upload them..... One At A Time. Then you get a better size for most smaller laptop screens like mine. I chose (500x333) You also get the choice of keeping the original larger pic or replacing it with the smaller one. All the uploaded pics are still stored in Full res.
Here is the size I used to be able to choose, but now have to manually edit to get.
I have noticed a lot of really BIG photos on many web boards lately, and I think the change may have something to do with it.
Here is the new default size.

Re: Photo Bucket's New Site
Yup- the new photobucket format sucks! I held out using the old format as long as I could, but that is no longer an option. I've even thought of transferring all of my pictures to a different hosting site and telling photobucket to pound sand, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I feel that the new photobucket format is overall less user-friendly and doesn't make a whole lot of sense with their new features. I kind of get the feeling that they are catering to the teeny-bop crowd who likes to take 100 self-portrait kissy face pictures in the mirror and post them for their friends to see!
Does anyone have some good recommendations based on experience with other picture hosting sites?

I don't like the new format either. They probably did it for smartphone users. But that is a sweet pic!
Ahhh, pre-mix!!

I spent about 4 hours getting to know the new site today, and organizing my photos to help get a grip on how it works.Savage wrote:I don't like the new format either. They probably did it for smartphone users. But that is a sweet pic!
It wasn't too bad once I worked with it for a while.
One thing though...................... I was renaming, and moving folders and photos. Sometimes it would work fine, and other times it would "hang up" and give me an error message. I found that when I got the error, If I just hit the "reload" icon, and then click my Library, the change would have worked.
I guess I can't bitch too much for the price.

Re: Photo Bucket's New Site
Well I just discovered something............ and it's bad.
I made some new folders, and moved some of my photos from one folder to another. Usually if my action is going to effect the photos I am linking I get a warning that the link will change. I didn't get any warnings, and since I was just moving photos withing folders, and not changing the actual photo I thought I would be OK. I was wrong. All the photos I moved from one folder to another are no longer linked where I had them linked before.
I will have to go back in and change the link on every photo I have out there, to have them display the way they did before. Man that sucks!

I think it was AnnieGS that posted about irfanview on ADV, it's freeware and resizes pictures in a snap. It also has a pretty decent auto enhancement feature. My point being, it might be faster to resize your pics before you upload them, most of the stuff on photobucket ioads pretty slow.
I got a fuji camera for my 30yr service award, but my old nikon takes better pictures.

Ya, I've used MS Digital Image Pro for years. It works OK, but I figure there are better programs out there now. I just don't have the motivation to learn a new program. I can edit pics pretty fast on it these days and get a decent result.katbeanz wrote:I think it was AnnieGS that posted about irfanview on ADV, it's freeware and resizes pictures in a snap.
