It was too cold and Jodi would not allow me to ride the bike in the back of the truck anyway. She's a real kill-joy like that.
(Honey, if you read this, you know I'm kidding. THANK YOU for letting me spend our life savings on my new Husky.)
So I rode the TE450 to work this morning. Only 5 miles and trying to vary RPM, not lug or rev too high--so not much of a real test ride. She started perfect, ran perfect, and has enough power to rip my arms off--and this is before the factory performance kit claiming to drop weight and add 15 HP.
More to come....as the weather allows.

8 hours on the road driving to Springfield to pick up the bike on Friday then onto Wilmington, IL where Jodi has lots of family. We made a family visit out of the trip..helped me justify going the distance to get the bike.
Visited family all day Saturday, then hit the road Sun morning. The drive home took about 10 hours because I had to swing all the way down to the Sean's house which is SE of St. Louis. I got home just after 8PM, delivered Mike's 400 (purchased from Sean) then collapsed into bed.
Believe me, it about killed me to be driving my truck down the BORING Illinois Hwy 55 on a sunny 55 degree day with that Husky in the back. So riding it to work this morning was all I could do.
Daryl & fatburg came by this evening to check it out. Daryl went for a 1 block spin...came back with a grin like a 5 year old Troy at Christmas.

I'm still smiling
Troy it is an amazing machine and I can't wait to get the three Husky brothers together to compare and contrast the different bikes! I will be putting on the new sticker today that you picked up for me. Thanks again for picking up a few items at Halls and letting me ride your life savings!

Ok, Daryl, there you go with that secret handshake again. I am feeling so unworthy...I mean seriously, will us KTM and Suzuki riders even be able to ride with the "Brotherhood" at the April Fool's Ride?? Will The Secret Brotherhood Of The Husky Riders even let us enter the Lodge, being that we won't know the secret handshake?? I am feeling so unworthy.
Congratulations, David H., for your newly acquired 07 TE450 !
I can't wait to try out that fuel-injected beast of yours, Troy. I am imagining smooth, instant power response at all ranges...Is that kind of what it's like?

Brother, your test ride awaits. So far, I'd say that describes it. I find the power very instant, comes on with screaming force, yet smooth--if that is possible. Keep in mind I don't exactly have a frame of reference when it comes to this class of machine. I've taken small test rides on all my buddies KTM's and Huskies, but I'm really not qualified to compare.
I will say that Daryl's Husky 510 remains as the most powerful bike I've ridden. It just explodes under you. Tracy's XRR is a bad mofo. When I rode that thing down in SE Kansas, I expected it to be a monster, but that bike's power still surprised me. I also took a 1/4 mile ride on Sean's 400 KTM---it is a powerful beast as well. This bike now belongs to safiri. I once rode a KTM 525 for a few miles on and off road, and that bike will give you major grins!
The power is obviously a big step up for me. I'm looking forward to having the ability to loft the front wheel over fallen trees and ruts as needed. Probably the biggest improvement for me will be the suspension--the ability to hit stuff and jump off small ledges without worrying so much about the bike and my body.
In about 2 weeks or so, I'll be installing the Husky "performance kit" on my TE450. It is a replacement exhaust and a way to take the O2 sensor out of the equation which causes the EFI to default to a "race mapping". This is reported by Husky to add 15HP--which is huge and frankly, hard for me to believe. I'm not doing for the power, although that will be exciting. I'm doing it because getting rid of the catalytic converter in the original pipe drops a lot of weight and produces much less heat.
Let's all hope for warmer weather. I need to break in the bike before April and hope to hit School Creek at Milford Lake for a trail warm-up between now and then.

Hey Troy. Keep me in mind when you go to Milford. I will need to do some testing also. Lots of new Farkles on the XRR that need a test run.

Perhaps we need to split this thread ... one for congrats to Troy on his bike, and second for "pick on Tracy" and/or "post whatever bad mojo pictures of Tracy that you have."
