KLR Body work...

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

KLR Body work...

Post by Andy »

...isn't the best.

The mounts on the plastic things on my tank finally gave up the ghost during last weekends destruction derby, and I couldn't buy new ones because they wouldn't match the rest of my faded plastic, so it was off to the hardware store. I picked up some shelf hardware, and some pins, and did this:

I've been using pins for the rearward holes on the left side of the bike for about a year now, so this is really just an expansion of that idea. The nice part is now I can take off those plastics in about 30 seconds, without any tools.

Troy,

How about posting pics of your "Frankenstein" stitching of your 450 after Chadwick??? That was really classy!

Cheers,

Heat gun, vice-grips holding a phillips-head screw-driver, and zip-ties. It worked excellent. I could have left it forever, but I got a good deal on replacement plastic and had to tear the back end apart anyway, so I replaced it. I kind of miss it. :)

I used the same Clevis pin type setup to hold the side pods on my kart. Never had any issues with it, and I was thinking of doing it on my DR. Nice :!:

That right there is pretty impressive. Zip ties are truly wondrous devices.

I may end up having to try the mod for the KLR after all my time in offroad parks the mounts on my fairings are mostly broken. currently i keep them from flapping with wire but that is really just a temporary fix.
