Super Tenere'? Why don't companies that make bikes with any off road capabilities make them off road worthy. I love the idea of a yamaha 1200 "gs" but give me a tougher skid plate and a higher fender, for example. The foot pegs are spiked for muddy conditions, so if the mud thay planned for gets in the rider's boots, it's surely going to clog up the fender. Why, i ask you, why?

Oh gods of the KLR; to you I pray. Give us more hp so that we may go forth and deliver word of your greatness without planning our trips based on the direction of wind. Amen

looked further into the tenere and found it to be way too heavy and under powered for its size to be a proper adventure ds. Not a good bike for much of anything really. I'll be testing a tiger next if triumph loans us one for a report.

I've not ridden a Tenere, but, I did happen to read this article at work, during, uh, 'lunch' on Friday. I don't remember how I came across the article in question - I was researching some stuff for a ride I am taking in August, and may have come across it doing some background digging on where to ride in CA.

If for nothing else, change your opinion of the Ten or not; it's a fairly entertaining read, although I can't remember if some of the language in that particular article is a bit blue in parts.

the yamaha feels heavy. I don't want a wrestling match when i'm riding. the bmw adventure 1150 is big but will power itself out of situations better. the bmw 1200 has even better ergos and power. they outclass the yamaha 'in my opinion" by far. its the difference between riding a large horse and rhinocerus. Both are designed for off road use, but bmw was designed to be ridden off road.
