understanding KTM shock spring numbers? PDS4?

I just picked up an 02 KTM 400exc that is plated and the suspension seems very stiff. The number on the back spring is a pds4. I have searched, but I havent found anything that explains the pds numbers in regards to rider weight. I understand that its a progressive spring. Can any one shed some light on this?
