Now I'm getting familiar with BaseCamp because they are phasing out MapSource.
I just pulled the trigger on a Montana 600, post in ADV said it can use my old 2008 Garmin Topo and a couple hundred tracks of 10,000 points each.
And Basecamp is free, isn't it?

Basecamp is free. You can also use Mapsourse if you don't purchase any maps online and have them sent to you GPS. If you buy any Garmin maps get the CD so they can be loaded onto you computer and then load the maps on the GPS.
I used the Montana on my Eagles trip and loved it.

I'm going to purchase the montana just can't decide between the 600 and the 650t. The only differences is that the 650t has a camera and the garmin topo...for $100. I could care less about the camera but wonder if the topo is worth the $100?

I feel the same way about the camera but I got the T. I did not want to download all the free topos onto the device.

I got my 600 from gpscity.com. It didn't come with a micro sd, so I used the original 64mb that came in my 60csx until I decide how big a card to get. I loaded N. MO garmin 2008 topo using mapsource with no issue, but as mentioned there are several free maps at gpsfiledepot.
I am very impressed with how bright and easy to read the display is.
