Noob in SE KS and question on plating out of state bikes
Hello from SE, KS. Arma to be exact. Looking for some info on how easy it will be to get my 05 wr250f with an Arkansas title that does not have the dreaded "off road" on the title anywhere. If I have it vin inspected with this title and appearing legal for the road what is the chances of getting it with a ks plate? It is an old lady employed by the court house at the court house who does the inspection. From the research I have done from this forum it is touch and go. Can anyone with experience chime in and let me know what to expect. Thanks!

It almost always comes down to the lady behind the counter. I think you'll be fine.
Ahhh, pre-mix!!

Thanks for the input. I guess I will report back after I see what happens. If anyone else has been there done that stories, I am all ears.

I had my 2nd KLX tagged this year here in ICT. During inspection she pulled back the cables and was looking at the sticker on the head tube. The cables had worn some of it off and I asked what she was looking for. She was looking for one word. CONFORMS. She said if that word is not on the head sticker, she cant pass it through inspection. Just FYI.

Hayden is in Wichita. In Wichita, Kansas City (Wyandotte & Johnson counties), and possibly other large population areas the KHP does the inspections. They won't pass it. Don't bother trying. Wasted a few months of my life dealing with technocrats in Topuka.
Go to a rural county and either the local police or sheriff (or clerk?) do the inspection. Typically do fine as BY STATE LAW all they are supposed to check is that the VIN matches the title.
You do not need to get the inspection done in the county in which you tag it. A completed inspection form from anywhere will be accepted by your county clerk.
