Last year I sponsored a soldier from Portugal. He was sent by his country to the Command College at Fort Leavenworth. It was an enjoyable experience and something I'm signing up to do again.
A new class of 49 students is arriving in 2012. The Students are from every continent but Antarctica.
Being a sponsor is not a major time commitment. They would like you at the first sponsor's briefing. Consider meeting the officer at the airport, attend the introductions dinner and attend one of the three major events. We chose to have a party and had a number of the officers friends attend and invited him to Easter and Thanksgiving. I have also meet him a few times for dinner.
These officers and the best and brightest from their country. Many are future Generals and government officials.
If anyone has an interest in being a sponsor please drop me an email at ajayhawkfan at yahoo dot com and I can provide more information.
