Memorial Ride

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

Memorial Ride

Post by ajayhawkfan »

I am on my first memorial/poker run. I am happy to support the family that is in need. I should have just sent a check.

A poker run from bar to bar is not my idea of a good time.

I stick out like a sore thumb. My bike, clothing, riding style are all different. I believe I one of about 10 that has a helmet.

They all ride in formation everywhere. For a group that thrives on being different that are all the same.

I'm riding gravel from place to place.

I am helping a family in great need and that makes me want to stick it out but thus is far from fun.

Perhaps you should sit down so as to blend in? :-)

BTW, I spent last weekend turkey hunting down near Hutchinson (my first time hunting anything). Uncle from Pennsylvania came out to get a Rio Grande. The wind made it very difficult, but he got two (one Eastern/Rio hybrid, one Rio). One at 60 yds or so (20" barrel with more than a full choke.). I took two shots, both over 50 yds, and didn't get "lucky." Had a chance at one other but ~50yds and it was heading toward him so I let it pass. Had a great time, in spite of the constant 20 mph winds, with gusts over that. Learned a lot, too. Looking forward to doing it again.

Turkey hunting is my favorite. I love being in the woods when the woods are waking from a long winter and in the morning.
