I thought I recognized the name Luis B'.... He raced FM off and on a few years ago. Good luck to him, and the 150.

The Dakar is running RIGHT NOW. The race is 16 days, Jan 1 - 16 with day 8 being a day of rest. You can see some daily video and photos on the official site, but their fancy navigation interface is kind of tricky--so I leave you to figure out for yourself how to change days! Hint: mouse-over instead of click on the left/right arrows.

The Dakar is never shown on American TV beyond some obscure sports channel showing 20 minutes of highlights. If anyone finds some coverage, let us know. A few years ago, I used bit-torrent to grab the high-quality coverage from Australia.

The schedule seems to be wherever they could fit it in. 330, 730, etc.

Australian TV: http://www.sbs.com.au/dakar/
Usually good coverage. Click on the Videos tab. Then you can choose to watch each section (trucks, cars, motorcycles) separately.

In the past Torrent downloads have been posted on the net of the SBS and Eurosport coverage.

Watching some of those vids makes me wonder how that 150 2t is going to make it without needing new rings or a topend?

It was Jim as I recall, son or younger brother maybe. He rode AA and was Blackjack series overall champ, later rode ISDE too I think. This was mid~late 80's, I coulda been a contender. Stella!

So whats the rules? Lets say you come into the checkpoint an hour ahead of the following competition, then the next day when you take of do you get to leave an hour before them?
I've seen it some here and there over the past few years but never paid much attention to it.
