Riding pants

I like over-the-boot pants for the trail riding I do. I've done the in-the-boot motocross pant thing, and frankly, I don't like looking like I'm motocrossing when I'm out for a trail-ride and walk into the burger shack for lunch. (I'm all about fashion you know.) I also appreciate pants that drain water OUTSIDE my boots rather than directly into my boots. I tend to do a few water crossings!

I'm a simple guy, or at least wish I was. I tried to just wear jeans or heavy canvas pants. However, I quickly learned you want pants that do not absorb water and you want heat resistant material at least in the right places.

I've been very happy with the functionality of the last 2 pairs of Klim pants, but burned up both of them with the odd left-side pipe on my TE450. However, I was not happy that the pants only came in black. Black, after all, absorbs heat more than any other color. (Safiri may correct me on that one if my science is bad.)

While cleaning up the closet today, I threw my ragged Klim pants in the trash and went online to see what the next pair will be. I'm happy to see that Klim now offers pants in a white/silver color. These are the "Dakar" pant.


At $159, they are not cheap, but I'm hoping that since I now ride a KTM with right-side pipe, these will last me a long time.

I suppose I could be a KTM freak and get the orange ones, but I'm not that much of a brand guy!

You are correct, black absorbs. White reflects. I guess silver pants would be even better, but your cohorts would be blinded and you would look like a ... You get the idea.

But orange looks cool:


That said, I have been very happy with my Klim Dakar pants. They are getting a bit ragged, but have one more season in them. They keep me warm with the vent zips closed, cool with them open (and moving). I will buy another pair unless something better comes along that I haven't seen yet.

I did sew in some velcro on the inside waist to attach the foam hip protection pads from a pair of MX pants.

I have done an extensive search for the right pants for you. I took into account your riding style, motorcycles, personality, need for fashion and your friends. I believe this satisfies all of the criteria perfectly.

I"m a convert to over the boot pants and I love the quality of Klim products. I found these pants at $80ish

I'm not sure if they come in other colors or not and I guess you could buy two pair for the cost of one Klim Dakar. I'm sold on the Klim product.

Funny?! I thought it was stupid and mean. I trusted Eddie not to tell anyone about that night we shared. Now he posts photos of the outfit I wore--the outfit HE BOUGHT FOR ME.

It's over, Eddie. I mean it this time. OVER. Tell Steve he can come get his sweater--out of my garbage can this Wednesday morning!
