Trying to be optimistic about the weather, I'm confident that we should be able to ride to our June get together. I've booked us space on the deck at River's Bend in Parkville. I've never been there or heard anything about it but the pictures on their website looked good and they have a nice deck. Would anybody that knows the area be willing to lead some of us on a short ride before we meet?
When: June 4, 2013 at 7:00.
Where: River's Bend
2 main Street
Parkville, MO 64152
What: TARKC June get together
Who: Everybody invited!

I've got the afternoon off so, kickstands up as soon as 1:30 p.m. if anyone wants to join for an extended pre-ride. Have a couple of spots picked out for some Dualsport riding fun. We can then meet up in Parkville around 5:45 for a shorter excursion and find that barn I posted earlier. I think Eddie might just know where it is...

Yes we can meet in Parkville at 1:30, just across the railroad tracks from Rivers bend. Can't be sure about no gravel so we will just call it dirt. There is one place I want to check out that might have some trails we will see...

Randy, did you ride your 450 all the way over there and back instead of the F800?
Sorry I missed out!

Troy, there was a chance of rain and I couldn't risk getting mud on my 800 so I trailer-ed the 450.

Randy, you make me sick. I've never kicked anyone off the forum, but you are getting DANGEROUSLY close.

Yes found 3 tics on me, I must not be as sweet as Randy.
Also could be all crazy talk but read someplace that bugs don't like Bounce Dryer sheets so I had one in my back pocket. Not sure it did anything, you are suppose to tie it around your belt loop, might just keep the mosquitos away.

My brothers and I did about 14 miles of hiking in Arkansas last week. A friend of mine who spends a lot of time in the outdoors and has a house down near Jasper, AR gave me the heads up that the ticks are crazy this spring. So we sprayed a lot of deet on us before each hike. I did find 2 ticks on me. 2 brothers did not report any ticks. The 3rd brother, who refused deet, found 4 and was itching with chiggers. (Better than the cancer I'll get from the deet.)
A few weeks back, 4 of us spent maybe 10 minutes in the woods on a mowed, 50" trail over S of Lawrence. All of us had multiple ticks on us and found more in our clothing. SERIOUS tick infestation in this area right now.

I use Coulston's Duradon Tick Repellent on my clothing.
It is a permethrin based spray for clothing. I have used it on my turkey hunting camo for years. I did not pick up a single tick all spring and have gotten very few sense I started using it. Keep in mind while turkey hunting you are sitting in the woods for hours. One application lasts all spring even through a number the washes.
