NOT: Cassoday Sunday September 6th

UPDATE: Realized this is a 3 day weekend. Both the new riders indicate they'll not be able to make this day. I may do a weekend trip with the wife and 2 yr old instead. So Cassoday on the 6th is most likely off for me.
A couple of my coworkers are new riders and in need of a mini road trip to get the feet wet. So I have proposed a ride down to Cassoday on Sep 6 for the First Sunday Biker event. The ride would be on mostly minor pavement and at a slower pace. (No gravel.) With new riders, and for general comfort, the weather will have to agree.
This will probably be about the ride--not Cassoday. I imagine we'll stop long enough to walk around and see the bikes, then back on the road. We'll do lunch somewhere of course. Because of the route, distance, and the pace, this ride will take all day. I estimate 330 miles or so--a long day for new riders!
Here are a couple of route ideas--definitely not the quickest way to Cassoday! If desired, it would be easy to shortcut the routes by hitting major highways.
KC to Cassoday Route 1
KC to Cassoday Route 2
If you'd care to ride along, post up.

Hey Troy. I will probably be out there if we can hook up for a bit and talk. The pulled pork sandwiches are pretty good out there. Follow the smell of the grill. Cant miss it. Your route # 2 is much more interesting I would say. Just watch the curves North of Cassody coming off the plains. Another person was killed there last month. Harley missed the curve. Seems someone is getting hurt or killed there every month.
Between Cass and Strong City down along the river bottom, there is that long stretch along the road with a stone fence. South Fork Ranch I believe. Some one went in there an built a beautiful stone Castle of a house. Its quite the place. They are also building another Barn or guest house along the road, not sure. Its something to see.

Troy:
I am in for at least the ride down. Second route would be preferable. I will probably ride back some gravel from Cassoday depending on time and weather. Let me know where and when to meet.

Hey Troy.......would love to meet up/hook up somewhere outside of Lawrence on the 6th. Lemme know where and when. I just got back from SE Asia, rode through most of Cambodia, from Thailand to Vietnam. Have lots of stories and pics.

Sounds like a pretty relaxing ride to me, if you decide to re-schedule, I may be interested.

Only in the United States. In some countries, it is common to see a family of 3 or 4 and a crate full of chickens piled onto a 125cc motorbike.

Yes. My personal record for the most people seen on scooter was 7 + a dog! I was in Cambodia. The whole family was on a 100 cc scooter. These people know how to push the limits on scooters. I saw a scooter on the back of a scooter! Scooter Mania!

I will be out there. Doing a loop out in the hills for sure. May be on the 450 or the 640.
