DualSport ride Aug. 16 2009

I'm proposing a Dual Sport MC ride on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009. Destination is the Platte County Steam and Gas Show in Tracy, MO. If anyone is interested to see some really interesting restored tractors, trucks and steam powered machinery in a great location contact me and I'll try to set up a starting point for the ride somewhere here in Gladstone.
This a fun show to see and although it runs for three days, Sunday is free. The ride will mostly be on back roads, paved and gravel, with a possible ride from Leavenworth to Atchison and back to Tracy partly on the River Road. Food and drink should be available at the Fair Grounds. This is not a organized ride and all riders are responsible for their own safety. Your motorcycles must be street legal since we will be on public roads. Start time would be at 8:00 AM with start point to be named later. Contact me if you're interested.

Im leaving Lawrence KS Friday morning, about 6 am, and headed for Cass, AR, to a music festival, on my 2001 XR650. I might head north on Sunday morning, and might pop in to the steam and gas show. Keep an eye out for some weirdo wearing a backpack, with two 100 watt PIAA lamps on an XR. It will be me, Dave.

Hope you have some tall gearing for that run there Dave. Let me know how the trip goes on the XR. Thinking about the same thing on my XR in the fall. Take a bit of oil with and watch the level.

sorry, didn't make it to the steam/gas show in Tracy,MO. Looked like thunderstorms, so I headed towards Oklahoma, then shot north back to lawrence. Had good ride. I went by the cabin in Cass/Turners Bend. There was a family staying there.
