Hey, this is an early notice of a late October ride I am planning for all those like me that have to do some planning to get these things on the calendar. My current thinking is to take a couple days off around a weekend late in the month. A rough itinerary is to ride to Tenkiller Lake east of Muskogee, OK the first day. The second day would end up over by the Lower Buffalo Wilderness Area south of Mountain Home, AR with a definite lunch stop in Oark. The third day would end up around Shell Knob, MO with a tentative route crossing the AR/MO border several times. The fourth day would be home with lunch at Cooky's in Golden City.
Exact dates, length and itinerary are flexible and can be hashed out by any interested parties. I plan on camping each night, but others can make alternate arragements. I ride a V-Strom, so the tentative route is asphalt heavy, but I am OK adding in more gravel.

Fall Colors Tour - October (late)
Re: Fall Colors Tour - October (late)
Phatt, I am very agreeable with this tentative plan and have done similar trips in some of the same areas.

I ride a Vstrom (650) also. My brother, Kyle (KC on this forum), also rides a Vstrom and would love to do a ride & camp thing. Based on some highlights from my trips, I can recommend an overnight stop in Mountain View, AR. They have a lively town square with free, live bluegrass groups playing all over the square. There are a few good dining options, and I know of one campground with a nice shower-house. Another highlight is to take the free ferry across the North part of Bull Shoals Lake. Turns out running a ferry is cheaper than building and maintaining a huge bridge.
I'll watch this thread as plans progress.

Troy:
Thanks for info on Mountain View. I will have to do some more digging on that.
