Tracking down the old Paola bridge

Well Myself, MesaLC4 and my son headed out on a mid day'ish ride heading South in search of Safari and Troys hidden bridge East of Paola. One of the first fun things we rode was a non-maintianed road which was a good start for what was to come. And after a little bit of looking and running down a muddy trail we found the bridge, and it is cool. I would like to find out when it was built? After which we headed back Noth to the main gravel road and then headed East for a bit. We took another turn South that lead us to a short windy up hill section that turned into a long straight road. Well this didn't seem to be getting us any where. So, I said I saw a dry creek bed back aways lets go check it out. This turned out to be great fun! A little bit of slimmy water crossings and rock and sand. Going East seemed to be a bit much for my son so we turned and went West in the creek. Wow, all kinds of fun to be had going West. It was more loam, sand and small rocks which made for some great times. We made it a ways up creek to come to a spot that was a small issue to get by, logs all the way across the creek. I tried to make a line out of the creek, but it was just to soft to put enough power down to get up the walls. At this time my son looked to be getting tired and I was not sure how far his fuel would go. So, we decided to head for home. I planning on hitting up the creek again in a few weeks to see where it goes and how far the bikes can make it?

You found it! Fantastic stuff, guys! Thanks for the pics, too. You'll have to give me details on where to find that creek bed.

At the intersection of Victory Rd. and the Dead End Rd sign go "East". When the road goes into a "Y" stay to the right and then take the first right turn. You can enter the creek on the left hand side of the first bridge.

I created a short route snippet that starts at the Paola Bridge and ends at the creek entrance. Does this look correct?

Btw, just N of that Victory & Dead End sign, you did ride that L-shaped road (W 295th and Woodland Rd) didn't you?! That is a gem of a no-maintenance road. Watch out for the ruts and small gulleys. You should be able to see the road I'm talking about on the map at this link:

Yes that looks right. And the "L" section is a fun 3rd/4th. gear section, been on it a few times.

Theres another road I want to try out in a few weeks. Going south on I35 it would be the second Ottawa exit going East, Walmart has a depot on this road. Looks like it runs along a creek with a few field sections.
